Gurren Lagann is on iTunes

I'm not going to insult you, dear Japanator reader, and give a synopsis of what Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is. I'm just going to tell you that the series is now available on iTunes.

For only $50.99, you can buy the "Season Pass," which gives you access to the complete series. Of course, you could watch it for free on Sci-Fi (Mondays at 10 p.m. central), or buy the DVDs as they're released. Or buy the individual episodes on iTunes for $1.99 an episode. Or... get it that other way. Yeah, that way. 

You just have to watch the iTunes preview for episode one, "Bust through The Heaves With Your Drill." It's just a 30 second explosion. How is that a preview?

Also, be sure to check out the reviews up so far. The first one listed when I checked them out called Vic Mañana "a god among men."

I'd rather buy the show on DVD and watch it on my television. It might be worth it, though, if you have an Apple TV and prefer the dub to the sub.

If this is dubbed, I might do it. My daughter and I watched the fansubs together, but watching it dubbed together would be cool as well.

If this isn't dubbed, then its not even worth the money. The sub only dvds will only run you ~$60 for the whole series

I'll pass. I didn't care for the dub episodes last week, so I'd rather spend my cash on the sub-only DVDs.

I will just do what I do with all my anime. Buy the DVD and when I want to put it on my Ipod, just convert it. Gurren Lagann will definately be going on my Ipod touch when I get the DVDs.

I don't like Mac, even though I support the idea of iTunes-like marketplaces. And even though I watch almost everything on my computer, I'd still rather have the DVDs.

I've bought anime from iTunes before, but $50 is a bit too expensive. I'll just catch it on sci-fi and possibly on the sub-only DVD release.

While it is tempting to get it on itunes as I've only got about $5 to spare each week, I'm gonna try to save up for the DVD's.

So, as I type this, there's an ad for World of Warcraft on Japanator, you know, the one with Mr. T and his Night Elf Mohawk? It's looped...what...three times now?

What does this have to do with Gurren Lagann? It's simple, I like Mr. T, I like WoW, but Mr. T being on WoW did not make me play WoW.

I like Gurren Lagann, I...tolerate, Apple. But Gurren Lagann being on iTunes is not gonna make me buy it from them.

Oh, btw, it's also on the XBL marketplace for barely cheaper per USD if you have the Microsoft Points. No season deal though, so I guess it evens out, but hey, this way you can watch it on your computer (assuming you have either XP Media Center or Vista) OR your TV.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy this from iTunes if it were subbed. Is it really that hard to include two versions?

Eitherway, I'll buy the DVDs and convert them for use on my iPhone and AppleTV as I did with the rest of my anime. Just don't tell the DMCA.

Maybe I'm just not good at searching, but I can't seem to find the dubbed DVD's anywhere - I'd love to watch this with my kids but reading all the subtitle outloud gets old after about 2 episodes :)
