Naoki Urasawa, or the new god of manga as I like to call him, creator of such classics as 20th Century Boys, Monster, Yawara, and Pluto, has announced that he will have another baby in manga form. Its name is Billy Bat, which I have to admit sounds like its going to be a manga about a Saturday morning cartoon. However, don’t judge a book by its cover, because this just might be the Watchmen part two.
The story is about American comic characters of the 1940s that everybody knows and loves; I assuming this means made-up characters in this storylines world. Despite that, this story is about one particular American hero who has somehow become lost; this must be Billy Bat, or at least that's what my manga sense tells me. The strange thing is that this will be in Kodansha’s Morning magazine, and not Shogakukan, which Urasawa’s manga are usually in. Morning has such seinen titles as Vegabond, Planetes, and Zipang, meaning this manga might be a little bit more ‘darker’ than his previous works.
This can only be good, but what do you think?
