Stop throwing rocks at me, I didn’t say it; the one to blame is no other than its father, Kiyohiko Azuma on his personal blog. Fans assumed that he wasn’t going to make an anime based off of Yotsuba&! because he didn’t enjoy making the Azumanga anime; but he said that wasn’t true. For one he is concerned with the idea that manga are nothing more than storyboards to anime; as a mangaka he believes manga should be its own art, and who can argue with that?
Back to Yotsuba&!, he says it’s not going to happen. That it would be just too difficult to animate the series and make it look good. Perhaps it is due to the length of the segments and how they would feel like a bunch of short episodes fused together to look like some kind of Frankenanine. Though they did a pretty damn good job with Azumanga, so I’m not sure that is a valid excuse.
Either way he doesn’t want to make it, so we just have to accept it; or we can keep bothering him until he either commits seppuku, or caves in and asks Korea to make it. Just think of it this way, the time and energy used to make a Yotsuba&! anime can be used to make a Gurren Lagann cross over anime with One Piece.
