I had some doubts about the Blood: The Last Vampire film, but not anymore; you could say that this trailer drank almost every last drop of my disbelief away from me. Yes, those cool kids over in the UK provided the world with this trailer, since the movie will be airing there in June of this year. As you noticed this film is primarily in English, rather than in Japanese; which isn’t a bad thing because it takes place in a US Army camp within Tokyo right after the war in 1948.
You probably noticed the train scene in the trailer, which is a nice high-five to the anime; let’s hope it’s just as bloody. Though, I’m not quite sold on the wire-fu yet. Why do wire-fu actors/actresses have to run in the air when they jump or fly? That won’t ruin it for me though, I’m stronger than that. This film will come to America, but the release date is still sleeping in the coffin. Don’t worry, it will rise from the grave someday and we will pierce it with out eyes of stakes and our claps of… ok I’m finished.
Overall I think it looks great but there are a few things that annoy me. First off is the wire work. Anyone who has seen the original Blood knows that the fight scenes in that were dark gritty and brutal not over the top matrix style wire work. That said it seems to be well done so we will see how it pans out.
My other complaint is that the big bad enemy is Onigen. Now as far as I can tell Onigen is a beautiful but evil person. If this is the case why not just call her Diva? Diva was a beautiful but evil person in Blood+ and fans of the Blood series would know the name from that.
That aside I am hoping the movie does get a US release I would love to see this on the big screen.
Otherwise, the trailer looks awesome. I am barely on the Blood bandwagon (only saw a few episodes of Blood+), so maybe I should brush up before the movie comes out.
The wire-fu and liberties with the source material don't really bother me that much. The wire-fu doesn't seem that over-the-top cept for that one second in the trailer.
I just had chills, man. Fuck the Watchmen, this is what I want to see.
im a little confuse is this movie a Blood+ spin-off? an from wat ive read is blood+ the anime series based on another series also? . ... i should just wiki it...
Also, Blood: The Last Vampire (movie) happens before Blood+ (Your wording made it a little confusing Len) The Blood: The Last Vampire manga happens in between the two, and I'm not sure if this movie is to be taken as canon...
