While I don't fully agree w/ the games content, it was released in 2006. It's been 3 years & people are NOW finding out about this?! & this wasn't even released in the US! & hardly ANYONE in Japan knew, let alone BOUGHT, this game. & what annoys me more is that Equality Now group wants to censor other countries....

Man, 1 raep simulator & a huge freakin' mob around the world forms & yet the US is FULL of murder/killing simulators & everyone just goes on with their lives (except some gov't people)...

While it sets a precedent that makes me uncomfortable, these aren't exactly the kinds of things I'd like associated with my sub-culture. Rape simulators are fucked up.

Whatever happens in Japan should stay in Japan. Vegas's tourist motto should be transferred to them.

@sigue, a lot of the games on the market now are more fucked up then rape simulators. But no one cares about violence anymore. You can kill, but you can't rape; not that i would ever do both.

God Len meant "Never do either", Rape is the most aggravated assault anyone can ever commit. Games like GTA or Saints Row is crap when you compare them to Rapelay and that kind of game. Look at any video game, Mario brothers kill, Metroid killed, and so on. Plus the violent games arent focused on sick minded people to get off on. I dont think the GTA franchise is focused on getting people off, even in the game itself you still need to pay for hookers most times... blah blah, they take the game off the shelf, censorship or not, it shouldn't have been sold on places like Amazon.jp to begin with. I'm waiting to see if they'll ever pull Ken Kan Ryu and books like that off over racism.

its interesting. people will come to the defense of games that have you pick someone up and throw them into a jet turbine for points...but not this.

@mana: MadWorld is one of the best games I've ever played, and not only can you throw people into jet turbines, but if you impail their skull with a roadsign and set them on fire, you get bonus points. That's the kind of game I will defend any day of the week. It's great stress relief. :D

But seriously on topic, I agree with Sigue. This is a bit of a disturbing precedent and I seriously hope Americans don't start associating Japanese culture with rape and deranged debauchery. Not that Japan lacks any of that, but then again, who doesn't these days?

What did they expect when they chose to come out with a premise like that?

You know whats seriously funny ? Rapelay is indeed a sick game. It disgusted me in quite some ways - yet I played it for quite some time. But its just because I'm always curious how much taboos there gonna break.
In the end there where quite some borders crossed and I soothed myself with the thought, that its just a game.

Another game - RELEASED IN AMERICA (!!!) - called Virgin Roster, is by far the sickest game I've ever played. Like I said - I play many strange things out of curiousity but after not even 1/4 of the Game I just stopped playing because it made me so neaustious. I couldn't go on and I couldn't bring myself to sooth myself, by thinking of it as a game. They only look to rapelay because it far more realistic...but really now...anyone knows biko ? I think biko is worse, because of the stalking-levels and some sick sex-toys like the tazer.

Great news! It seems to me Pirate Bay is becoming even more popular. I don't even mention that millions of otaku people can torrent the game or just share it. IMHO, prohibition is the worst method and the most ineffective. From the other hand I'm gonna raise up my ratio ;)
