  • On New Luminous Arc comes with lots of pretty at 11/17 2:01pm
    @Pangloss:
    I didn't find it all that difficult either. There are some great leveling opportunities on some of the replayable maps, you may want to go grind things out a little. I really hope that Atlus bring this over (or I can struggle through the Japanese version if I must). I don't think it's a sure thing though, I'd love to know how the previous two titles sold here in the states.
  • On Resonance of Fate is long, fashionable, utterly nuts at 11/14 9:51pm
    I do like this costume changing business, I'm a sucker for stuff like that. Well, if the battle system is fun (and it's true, Star Ocean's battles were tons of fun) I'll probably pick it up. I'm still waiting on more info though.
  • On It's illegal to be fat in Japan at 11/13 02:00am
    There was this British study that concluded that people who are at a healthy weight end up costing the health care system more. The reasoning behind this is that people who are not overweight live longer, and in their older age they end up racking up far more in medical bill than the guy who died of a coronary at age 62.

    Well, it's just one study but something to ponder, at least as far as the cost reasoning is concerned.
  • On First Impressions: A Certain Scientific Railgun at 11/08 7:52pm
    Oh yeah, I also wanted to say I love how they used the same scene in the opening of this anime as they did in Index's first opening of Mikoto at the vending machine but changed the perspective from Toma's to Mikoto's.
  • On First Impressions: A Certain Scientific Railgun at 11/08 7:50pm
    I wish they had stuck a little closer to the manga, which, while it had some fan service moments, I felt as if the manga had far less emphasis on them. Kuroko at the very least it far less irritating in the manga. Overall though, I still think it's my favorite this season and Misaka Mikoto is one of my favorite characters in the anime universe. Jon if this is your first introduction to this series you may want to go check out the original To Aru Majutsu no Index, which is pretty fun and involves far less Kuroko and far more Toma and Index, who, while not Mikoto, are good fun. Toma will be making a bigger appearance next week in Railgun if they stick to the manga.

    At any rate, if you enjoyed the scene at the end of episode four, the one at the end of this story arc should be a doozy.
  • On Why Angel Cop sucks (but is still awesome) at 11/08 01:28am
    Wow, that was... hilarious. When the girl start speaking I couldn't help but laugh.
  • On Japanator's Top 25 most popular anime characters at 11/07 3:47pm
    And again with the typos. I request an edit button, lol.
  • On Japanator's Top 25 most popular anime characters at 11/07 3:46pm
    Mmmm, I love my typos and complete lack of commas there. This is why you should not type first thing after waking up, it's a bad idea.

    Yeah, Kamina kept is close. Apparently I need to watch Gurren Lagann though. I had never even heard of the guy and when I started added up the votes I couldn't help but think, "Who is this Kamina guy?"

    Really, I'm just glad to see Osaka up there. The more I thought about my own votes the most I kind of wished I had put her first.
  • On How about Japanator's own list of the 25 greatest anime characters? at 11/06 8:44pm
    Ok, I'm going to do the final total tomorrow morning (Saturday the 7th) and post the results. So if you haven't gotten your say in yet now's the time.
  • On Matsui leads the Yankees to win the 2009 World Series at 11/05 08:32am
    I hate the Yankees so much. However, as a Braves fan I have no love of the Philies either. So wahtever I guess, good for Matsui, I at least don't mind that bit at all.
  • On Persona 3 Portable: Swag spread is superb at 11/03 1:41pm
    I don't even need the swag, I just want the game. I already have P3FES but I'd really like this version. Come on Atlus, announce it please!
  • On How about Japanator's own list of the 25 greatest anime characters? at 11/02 11:27pm
    Well, I figured 24 hours after the last list come in. I'm actually pretty up to date on all the submission except the last 4, which I'll get when I'm done with the game of Civ I'm currently playing, lol. It's off the front page and stuff now but I wanted to give people enough time to submits lists but I figure 24 hours without a submission will be a good time to mark things as done.
  • On Bad apples never looked this good... at 11/02 4:33pm
    @Parasepsis-Ezza

    The girl at 3:11 is Elly, who serves Yuka in Touhou 4 Lotus Land Story.

  • On Tell us about the 'Best Thing Ever' and get your story published on the front page of Japanator at 11/02 2:10pm
    Hmmm, I already have a couple of things I was going to write up that'll fit nicely into this theme. Gonna have to go the multiple post route as well.
  • On How about Japanator's own list of the 25 greatest anime characters? at 10/30 11:11pm
    No worries Rick, I had to edit yours fairly heavily. I have the spreadsheet set up for lists of 10 (I know I originally said 25 but that changed to 10 pretty quickly, good thing, there's already 139 characters on the spreadsheet). I also had to eliminate Alucard and Belmont (but I did double check to see if there was a Castlevania anime first).

    @rhkaloge:
    Oh don't you worry, someone snuck a Goku vote in there.
  • On How about Japanator's own list of the 25 greatest anime characters? at 10/30 7:52pm
    Also...

    I suppose IGN's list tried to be more "objective", but they also admit there was a level of favoritism. There's nothing stopping us from doing a more objective list at a later time. I've made the spreadsheet, it can be adapted to "top whatever" now.
  • On How about Japanator's own list of the 25 greatest anime characters? at 10/30 7:44pm
    @bahamut

    I had envisioned purely a popularity contest and that's how I made my list (otherwise there'd be 0 Pani Poni Dash characters as opposed to 3, lol). It seems like that's the way others went with their lists as well.
  • On Weekly Otaku Debate: Kimi ni Todoke vs Toradora! at 10/30 3:14pm
    Toradora for me. I have to agree I wasn't particularly fond of the ending but overall I enjoyed the anime and I just can't get into Kimi ni Todoke.
  • On Hand-saw robbery girl robs her own restaurant at 10/30 10:13am
    "sporting a snazzy motorcycle helmet and face mask:

    Well, it was a bad idea for sure but at least a better idea than these guys: http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/29/iowa.marker.disguise/index.html
  • On Bad apples never looked this good... at 10/30 00:03am
    I've seen this pop in a couple of places today but I didn't take the time to watch it till now. Glad I did, that was really amazing. I particularly enjoyed the sinister smile on Flandre's face and Yuyuko dancing for some reason.
