  • On Releases of the week - 11/17/2009 at 11/17 3:11pm
The two Blu-ray releases for me this week. Will get the FMA and OMG manga eventually as well.

I might have to check out the Korean Boys Over..., since I recently watched the Japanese one online, and didnt care for it much. Maybe with a different cast I'd like it more?
  • On Ready to IDOL! at 11/13 1:17pm
I seriously need to catch up on my anime. The first two episodes of this were great. Crappy time of year! Hopefully this weekend...

As a dued, have to admit I'm a fan, if only for Hana Kimi. Even though I decided just last night that i DON'T like Hana Yori Dango, I will admit that he is one of the few things about the show I do like. I cant comment on looks at all, but he's a good and fun on-screen presence. I enjoy watching him in roles. Looking forward to checking out Tokyo Dogs.
  • On Releases of the week - 11/10/2009 at 11/11 4:20pm
Special A has been boughtened (also from RightStuf about 2 weeks ago (hooray for early shipping)), Tsubasa next week on order at Amazon (blind buy), and the Naruto movie is at the #2 spot on my Netflix queue. Woo!
  • On The Best Thing Ever: Yotsuba&! at 11/11 2:25pm
Great article. Couldn't agree more with everything you said. I too am a big fan.
  • On Tokujō Kabachi!! Kabachitare! 2 gets a drama adaption at 11/10 1:04pm
Forgive my noob question, but: Is that the girl from Hana Kimi? If so, count me in! :D
  • On Why Haruhi Suzumiya shouldn't be over at 11/09 1:08pm
@karen: Totally understood. Luckily for me, I'm just about in the complete opposite mindset. Most DO feel right for me. Heck, I even liked Twilight. *gasp*.
  • On Why Haruhi Suzumiya shouldn't be over at 11/09 08:14am
Wish I had an edit feature.

    1. You tell me two characters are in love, and I can accept it.
    2. I also should mention I subscribe to the "Mikuru is...

Endless Eight is/was great. Although I have a couple more episodes to watch. I'm a fan of subtle and monotony, so I know how alone I am in my fandom in this instance. I see why people didn't like it, and sure I can agree that maybe it would have been easier to handle even just cut in half. But I still appreciate it for what it was. But I wont try to convince others over to my side.

I'm glad we got more. I look forward to the movie and hope we get more after that. A bad sequel/continuation rarely makes me hate an original. See it in a different light? Maybe, but I can separate them at the end of the day. So if it's bad, then I move on with other stories, and give a slight hug to my DVD Box. But if it's just as good or better? Then my love of a world expands.

As much as I love a 'complicated' or well thought out love story, I love the simple love stories too. Sometimes I don't need a reason for love. You tell me two characters are in love, and I can expect it. It takes me back to a simpler time, and a simpler time of storytelling.

It's like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. It simply doesn't matter what is inside. All that matters is that it exists, and it's important. So when you tell me that Rin and Asa love each other in Shuffle, I accept it. Horrible because everyone assumed it would fall in Kaede's direction? Not by a long shot. Simply another story for another time.

I also should mention to the "Mikuru is XXXX's XXXXXX" theory, but since no one else has mentioned it, I'll take a step bakc from that discussion until someone else brings it up....
  • On Want some more Monster action? Viz puts the series on the PlayStation Network at 11/06 10:28am
Love to see the format getting more, but I really wish they'd follow Xam'd with another HD show. :(
  • On What Anime's Been Up To: Fansubs are Funny, Part 2 at 11/05 12:57pm
I have this one saved somewhere, and I post it on message boards whenever i get a chance. Mostly when people are arguing mindlessly. It never fails to deliver.
  • On Bakemonogatari tops the Blu-ray charts with 39,000 copies sold at 11/04 10:04am
As if I didn't love you enough already, you go and finish off that article with this:

"Why not make it one big package, and license this, Toradora and Lovely Complex to make my day."

Now I really love you. In that kinda creepy way that even makes me uncomfortable. :P

I was starting to worry people were forgetting about Lovely Complex and I'd never see it pop up!
  • On Good to be king: Funi gets to call dibs on most new anime at 11/03 7:27pm
Good to hear, since they are pushing Blu-ray more than any other company. I hope to hear soon about stuff Japan already has on BD, such as Bakemonogatari, K-on!, and Michiko to Hatchin. And maybe even some regular titles too, like Toradora and about a million others I'd love to hear about.
  • On Releases of the week - 11/03/2009 at 11/03 3:36pm
    LOL @ Gay's Anatomy! Genius!

Witchblade Blu-ray for me from the video list.

From the book list, I'll eventually grab: Love*Com, S.A., and R+V. I really need to catch up one of these days.
  • On Weekly Otaku Debate: Kimi ni Todoke vs Toradora! at 10/30 2:51pm
    Toradora

Kimi ni is nice so far (I've only seen 2 episodes, and read one volume of manga). While I see myself liking a lot, I don't see it (yet) making it's way in to my all time top 5 like Toradora did so magnificently.

So far I see myself more comparing Kimi Ni to Love*Com. Don't know why, maybe its the slight art similarity. But that's what my poll would have been.
  • On Please License Bakemonogatari at 10/30 07:03am
Easily my favorite show of the year. Didnt even have to read this whole article, the title and first paragraph were all I needed. :D
And yes, Blu-ray please. I think Japan is getting it on Blu-ray already, so hopefully this means it should be even easier to get it over here.
(Then again, they have a lot of shows I like on BD not licensed here yet (K-On, Michiko to Hatchin, etc), so who knows)
  • On First Impressions: Kampfer at 10/29 1:44pm
I was avoiding this one, because I dont usually care for the 'school fighting' stuff (ikkitousen, seikrei, etc). But I liked this article, so I think I'll give it a shot.
  • On Grand Theft Auto IV brings subtle and nuanced look at anime at 10/27 3:14pm
Heh, I bought the Chinatown Wars for PSP a week ago, and this week end I noticed a Princess Bubblegum billboard. Assumed it was just a random thing thrown in for the billboard. Nice to see some consistency across platforms!
  • On Good Smile Company reveals Vocaloid charms line at 10/22 4:16pm
I'm not big on vocaloid, but i love the one on the right(Toeto?).
