  ive actually read the entire manga and all i have to say is HOLY SHIT IS THE STORY FUCKING DEPRESSING!!!! and all though that may be so it doesnt make the less desirable to read, rather thats the reason i continued and even finished reading it, even though i went super emo for like 2 weeks after. the story deals with friendship, family, deaths, acceptance, trying to grow up a normal kid while dealing with worldly issues and just trying to live life to its fullest. while i may have not finished watching the anime i have read in many forums that the manga and anime differ quite a bit with the most notable being the ending. i truly reccomend this story to anyone and everyone. dont let the depressing side of it discourage you from picking it up because in the end you will truly appreciate it for what it is.
