As I said in my review earlier this week, I really dug Evangelion: 3.0. Apparently I'm not the only one either, as the film has been killing it at the Japanese box office.
In its opening four days, You Can (Not) Redo made a ridiculous 1.5 billion yen, which is about 20 million USD. In case you're wondering, that's a lot. In fact, its opening weekend was the largest for a film release this year in Japan. I imagine that a lot of this cash is coming in from folks who are watching the film a second time. Hell, I'm planning on going again this weekend too.
I was expecting it to do well, but I still find myself surprised by how beloved this seventeen year old property is across all the demographics.
I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of legs Evangelion: 3.0 has. If this past week is any indication, things are only going to go up for Studio Khara.
