Even more manga is coming to the Japanese Wii photo

The first time we heard about manga coming to the Japanese Wii, we were a little jealous. Now it seems like they're just rubbing it in.

Some of the big guys in the Japanese print world are now joining in: Kadokawa, Kodansha, Shueisha and Shogakukan. They've come together to create Librica, a manga-delivery system that will be available through WiiWare. This will deliver the goods to a special Wii browser.  GoNintendo says that the group is also looking at bringing their products to the DS in the future. So far no launch date has been given, and so far this looks to be a Japan-only program.

Now, with the possibility of even more high-profile titles viewable on your Wii, would you buy into this?

As cool as the idea sounds I would much rather have the real book in my hands. I have tried E-books before and its just not the same. There is just something about having the real book in your hands. I'm sure some people would like this and in Japan where you have very limited space it may be a good solution so you don't have 6 foot high manga stacks all over your room. But I personally would prefer the real manga over a digital version.

Librica? In my America? Three words: Not gonna happen.

The rights for these manga titles are negotiated by the Japanese rights-holders, so I cannot see this ever being able to legally make it in America, where rights are divided among a whole different set of licensors.

The only way it will work is if the American companies create their own equivalent of Librica. Here's hoping.

If they brought it to America on the DS it would do better for two reasons:

1.) The DS being very portable and shaped like a book which would make sense.

2.) The Wii supply is still very limited in the US and the DS is now very available anywhere.

Yeah I always prefer to have the paper version so not too bothered by this
