Feast your eyes on Code: HARDCORE's sweet robot sprite animations

For a good while, I've been waiting for the day that someone would create an indie mecha title that was inspired by the Super Robot Wars series. While this day hasn't arrived, the Chinese Indie Game Development Team known as RocketPunch Games have released a trailer for Code: HARDCORE, a game that happens to be a 2D four-player platformer action title that feels like Metal Warriors and Cybernator.

Other than that, the game's robot sprite animations give off a nice Super Robot Wars vibe since they all have an array of over-the-top moves and combos. Considering that the game's roster consists of real-type and super robots that remind me of units from Gundam, Macross and Mazinkaiser, it looks like this title might also feel like a 2D version of Capcom's Tech Romancer fighting game.

RocketPunch Games plans to release Code: HARDCORE on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One. Since the title is in its early development stages, it might be a while before we hear more about its launch date. As a person who loves giant robots of all shapes and forms, I'm looking forward to seeing how the team's progress will unfold later on.
