I wonder how many of these were intentionally bad... I've seen quite a few parody fansub groups out there, and usually they're quite funny. I have seen a few of these legitly before though...and damn it's funny when you catch it.

This is why I refuse to watch Fansubs. I have plenty of friends who watch them and say they are very accurate but here is the kicker. IF you don't speak Japanese HOW DO YOU KNOW THE FANSUB IS ACCURATE? You can't and I have seen horrible differences between fansubs and subs that were on the DVD's i purchased later.

You have to be careful, there are so many awful subs out there.

The "get in the car" got me, but to be honest Japanese are so enthusiastic to translate their own stuff in Engrish, we shouldn't blame foiegners who usually don't have enough knowledge in Japanese and enough time to to a good job.

Keep in mind there are such things as bad fansub groups and everyone knows who they are *cough*shinsen-subs*cough*your-mom*cough*. Anyone remember the group anime-junkies, their shit was horrible, but at least their shit was free. I've bought my fair share of anime dvds with worst subbing.

This is a good example of the range of quality of subs.
Some get it right, some don't, but the fact that quality subs exist means that I feel they're worth watching, if you go to the right subbing groups.

I have tears in my eyes from laughter. And yes I have seen some bad subs, including some of the ones you used, but you get what you pay for and I love the fansub community for all there hard (and sometimes very funny) work.

My funniest bit was the 20,000 dollars a month rent. Just look at the protagonist's face when he hears this.

There certainly are some bad subs out there, but bad wording, jokes being trashed in the translation, are things you find in the official subs as well. In the end I prefer the free stuff, comparing different translations, than just accepting the official translation as the only one.

And dubs are no alternative, after all they are also translations. You don't get around the issue that way. You just miss out on the original voice acting, actors who actually partook in the making of the anime.

Yes, yes, no-one is allowed to complain about fansubs because they're "free". You know what else is free? Spell-checkers and online grammar guides.
