FINALLY: Xam'd DVD/Blu-rays coming in September photo

It's finally happening. I remember 2008 like it was two years ago, back when everyone was watching their anime in low, low resolution. The dinosaurs walked the earth then, too!

Upon trudging out of the primordial soup, Sony went and announced the spankin' new PlayStation Network video store, with all-new content designed specifically to show to the world how great Talladega Nights media would look in HD. Beside that initiative was an exclusive anime by BONES that would only be distributed on the PSN store! In HD! It was called Xam'd: Lost Memories.

I thought it looked pretty damn cool at the time, and looking at clips and screenshots now, it still does. It really was one of those anime that looked super-great at the highest resolutions.

Too bad, though, that I never worked up the wherewithal to actually buy an episode of the show from the PSN store. It would just take too long to download all that high-res video off the clunky store and through my even clunkier wi-fi network.

And two years later, now I have the chance to see what I might have missed, because Section23 and Sentai are bringing the Xam'd Collection 1 to Blu-ray and DVD this September. Yay!

Now what's with that crazy, squishy-lookin' mecha?

Legacy Comments

I don't know anything about this show, but that picture alone makes me want to see it. To the internets!
2 Reasons Why I Want to Own This Show: 1. It is pretty 2. Boom Boom Satellites
This show ended up suffering from the same old BONES-poor-ending sickness, but the rest of it was pretty damn awesome in my opinion. It gave me some Nausicaa vibes and I loved that they threw you into a pre-existing world without explaining everything.

And Boom Boom Satellites. Yesssssss. Wonder if they'll include the America and Japanese openings? Hope so.
I'm definitely a fan. So much so that i ended up buying every single episode on psn with full intention of buying a bluray release later. Heck, I even bought one episode twice by mistake, because I'm dumb and impatient.

So yes, I'm very excited for my already full September DVD/BD slate
Pretty good show but like Ben mentioned, the ending was disappointing. I enjoyed the fight sequences like I always do with BONES made shows, and characters were all pretty awesome as well.

Kylee ending theme was pretty awesome too, though the BBS op just rocks my world.
RightStuf's sale on all things Sentai includes part one of this blu-ray for $42. Sold.

(sale ends in a few days)

Yeah, I always thought it looked interesting but was never sure if it was worth checking out or not. I guess I'll find out when the DVDs are released.
I dunno _what_ the hell that mech thing is, but that image has me hooked! Now I've really gotta see this!

(But first...gotta watch the TORADORA! Collection 1 and the GOLGO 13 Collection 1)

Will be keeping an eye out for this. Don't have Blu-Ray yet, but this could get me to go grab one...
So will it finally include a dub or are we all shit out of luck, and that's never going to happen?

The show's good enough, I've seen exactly half(I think) of it. If it kept up the pacing of the first two episodes I think it would be up there with other legendary animes. At the same time though, I think they may have raised the bar too high then; looking back, that episode two fight used THREE musical pieces, which is quite a lot of resources to use for one scene. I have to wonder if they over-focused on that and much of the remaining anime took a hit. In the end, from all I've seen, it suffers from typical BONES pacing. Good, but not great.

Also, all of you people who keep talking about "BUY"ing this on PSN, You realize your only options are rent, and 24 hours after viewing it locks-out, and there are no options to buy(and btw, before anyone says anything, before I made this post I re-checked the PSN, just to make sure they hadn't changed the options on XAM'd, it's still the same)? To hell with all the people who kept talking about how "innovative" the approach was, only letting people rent ONE episode of an anime for Three dollars for 24 hours, is one of the most insultingly stingy things I've ever seen.
THe show is great I have it, and watch it like every other month on a rainy day..

It all depends on the viewer and their taste imo.
Wasn't disappointed not as well groomed as Eureka 7 but still its worth the purchase especially on Blu-Ray.

Can't wait!!

PS - Boom Boom Satellites: Shut Up anf Explode as an intro pulls you in...

Oooh, I'd love to have this on BD. Also remember this being a pretty cool show from a while back.
Can't wait. I paid for every single episode in HD on PS3, and I'm totally gonna buy the Blu Ray set on the first day. And it has a dub!!
This is my favorite anime of all time (probably).
FINALLY doesn't even begin to describe the wait. Definitely going to pick it up day one.
