That's the reason why this anime takes so long to Dub and release in English. Although it wouldn't explain why they take so long in doing it because in between DVD releases is a LONG while (19 days to go until last DVD for season 1)

Oh well I'll wait patiently, this anime Dub is Superb quality and I would highly recommend it to any anime fan.

One more thing though. Don't confuse the majority of fans with the most vocal. The majority of fans are perfectly fine with English Dubs. The one's who aren't just yell louder.

last horror I heard was on Suzuka....it's not really memorable song but the English one I just can't forget...it was THAT terrible....

You know, this dub is really good... for a dub. Whenever I get a new Haruhi DVD I watch it all the way through in both dub and sub.

As far as that song goes... its not too shabby, but then again that was only a taste

I, admitably a dub fan, thought that wendee sounded more like Hirano singing than the rest of the time, making this scene more picture perfect for me.

I must say, that sounded really good. People who dislike dubs like this are just people who don't like dubs period.

the only dubs i watch are old kung fu movies.

Alright I have to agree that the dub for Haruhi was decent, ok maybe even better than average, but you guys can't honestly think this english version of God Knows is any good.

Perhaps I'm being unfair because Ranma's female Japanese cast started their own band (DoCo) and sang Ranma songs, but it's horrible. It sounds like they had only practiced the song once in English, and Ranma is just... horrible.

I must be one of the few people who actually enjoy FUNImation's dubbed OP/EDs. lol

And I wonder if Japanese people mock and laugh at the people who require subs, like the subbers mock and laugh at dub fans....

Truefully, the Haruhi dub is probably the best dub Ive heard, it can use improvements, and I still enjoy the Japanese version better, but for once it doesn`t make me feel bad I speak the same language as the dub

From what I could hear from that short clip, it was pretty bad. Sounded like shouting in a few places, and/or was out of tune. Not all that knowledgeable about singing, but I play two instruments and am in the Instrumental Music department of my school (2nd chair cellist if that means anything to anyone), so my opinion comes from that standpoint. My singing friends could probably give a better opinion, but I'm pretty sure they'll say the same. Heck, my singing friends were BETTER when they were in High School! Prolly elementary school too, but I didn't know them then.

That said, this wasn't... horrible. It was just kinda bad. And comparing it to the Japanese version is kinda unfair, since its like they're required to know how to sing or something. Japanese version was good, or at least in tune, and saying it was bad is just weird, unless you don't like the song itself. More importantly, there have been a LOT worse in anime, as we all know. Just remembering some of them... *shudders*

But remember, this was the first day that haruhi actually looked at that song, so of course she won't be able to sing like a pro.

Y'know, I'm a big proponent of whatever blows your hair back. The same is true for dubbing and subbing. Honestly, I don't care. When dubbing is good, it's usually very good (see Noir) but when it's bad, it makes me wanna gouge my eyes out (see Please Teacher / Twins). Sometimes, dubbing is just average. Watchable, but you wouldn't go out of your way to listen to it, y'know?

This falls into the middle category for me. Wendee Lee, apparently, just can't sing to save her life. And it just sounds odd, y'know, not hearing Aya belt out those lyrics.

I'll give the dub a watch when I eventually get the Haruhi box set, but right now, I'm content with the Japanese voice work.

I think what all we can agree on is that dubbing is hard. Most the time it's ok, other time it just one big fight.

It's not REALLY bad....but I can't say it's good. It's not something I'll shove onto my playlist. Putting the fact that it was Hirano Aya that did the first copy so it ruins most opportunity for any dubs to make it sound better aside, I think it just doesn't...have that solid touch to it. It's not something you'd want to listen to over and over again. (God knows play count, 8472 as of today)

It was good for a dub. Although, we shouldn't compare it to the Japanese original since they're sometimes required to sing. Now if we were to go back to the Ranma Christmas episode... Horrible... Just makes you want to shoot yourself in the eyes horrible...Akae was out of tune in almost every spot and held her notes too long. On top of that, they just HAD to make Shampoo speak in third person while she was singing which sort of makes her look stupid on stage. And don't get me started on Ranma because I can rant on and on for hours on THAT subject...

That said and done with *ahem* Wendee Lee did a pretty good job. Not the best I've ever heard and it's not something I woul put on repeat or put on a homemade CD but it was good. It wasn't terrible but it was... just good...

Sounded great to me, but I still prefer Cristina Vee's dub of God Knows.

Dubs just don't work... period, end of story. If something comes from Japan it should stay in Japanese... if it comes from England, US, etc keep it in English... if it comes from Norway go Norwegian all the way... Repeat that pattern for every other country/language combo.

Movies... Video Games... ETC... if they have to translate it over for viewers just put fucking subtitles over the dialog because dubbing NEVER works and is ALWAYS a debasement of the original creation and intent!

Also, if you're too stupid or slow-witted to read subtitles then you don't deserve entertainment!

Actually, there a quite a few cases where people PREFER the English dub. I know the creator of Cowboy Bebop likes the show in English better, and feels it suits how the show should feel more accurately.
And personally, I prefer Haruhi in English. Aya Hirano is good, but I love the English voice cast, and this song is AWESOME in English.
