Just saw episode 11, one of the more "WTF?" endings to an episode that I've seen in a long time.

I like where the show is going now, except I was kind of hoping that Mikoto would just get her ass kicked by Kiyama- girl needs to get taken down a peg or two. Or twelve. Plus, she took way more damage than she should have been able to, but I'm done caring about that I suppose.

Also, liking Kiyama a lot- I knew she must have had a good reason for what she was doing.

I actually started watching this recently as Jon (I think it was him) posted about it a few weeks ago. I didn't think it was that great to begin with, but I stuck with it and I'm glad shit is finally about to go down in this show.

I never expected Mikoto to deal with Kiyama that easily, since she seemed pretty much invincible. I was also hoping she'd lose so we would finally get to see some of the other level 5's in action; I can't believe we haven't as much as heard about a single one of them yet. But I guess Kiyama lacks battle experience to force the authorities into such drastic measures.

And I have no idea what that fetus is supposed to be. Bracing for instrumentality.

Kiyama: "She wasn't fighting me seriously?*

*facepalm*

Well, so much for the idea of Kiyama knocking her down a few pegs. I'm still enjoying the show, but I'm getting tired of this "Mikoto is so powerful" bullshit.

This really is a typical shounen after all. It even has the OP music playing right at the moment the main character decides it's time to kick buttocks.

By the way, if the authorities really are "evil", Kiyama's sure to spend the rest of her days in prison. So why was everyone smiling when Kiyama stepped into the police car? Did Mikoto really even listen to anything else Kiyama had to say? Case closed my ass! There's really a hundred interesting ways for the story to develop from here and I hope the writers realize that too. So far the show has focused mostly on the development and interaction of our four cheeky loli heroines, who I really couldn't care less about.

Well at least there's still the guy who can nullify abilities. Though frankly, he's just cheating.

edit: Oh fuck me, next week is a beach episode.

I can enjoy watching anime that's full of cliches, but on this show reverting to cliche bothers me- it's like I can't help thinking they should be able to do better.

I was confused by that too- why is she so confident that she'll be out of prison soon?

I didn't know what to expect from this show at first. I was kind of put off by the general lack of serious action. However the show is still rather enjoyable, and when the action kicks in, it rocks. I also love the clever use of the heroines powers in a realistic way. We're already half way through the anime, and I'm curious to see where it goes from this point(aside from the obligatory beach episode. fanservice much?).

Also when the hell are we going to see Kazari's powers in action. It was hinted in the episode 11 or 12 that if Kazari was really lucky she could use her power to stop Kiyama.

Wait, who was Kazari again?

This is a fun show, although makes me want to put metal things in the microwave. Zzzzap Boom!

The girl with the flowers in her hair.

The girl with the flowers in her hair.

Oh, Uiharu. Her powers seem rather like a running joke if you ask me. Level 1's must only have powers in theory.

The Railgun fanbase now scares me.

I rather be a level one and have a joke power, than get all emo and use level upper, and then get knocked into a coma.

Fair enough.

Who knows, maybe Uiharu's secret power is to take over people's minds, she was the one controlling Kyama all along, and she's actually the mastermind behind all of the world's true evil!

Nah.

KarenGellender

I have a feeling that Uihara's power is the sort of thing that only has one or two specific applications- like "I can make flowers grow faster!" or something.

Didn't they say at one point that she's a Level 2?

Arcade Ness

I don't remember them stating she was a level two. I want to see the other level 5s, just to see them fight her and maybe take her down a peg.

So I guess we went from neuroscience to swimsuit science to culinary science. They might've added a grain of sexual objectification science as well, though who am I to judge.

I'd probably feel bad about watching all of episode 13 if it wasn't for that glorious 2001: A Space Odyssey reference.

That was quite surprising that they did that. Totally came from left-field. My favorite part of that episode is Mikoto dancing in the beach while that one dude is watching on that jumbo tron in the city.

In To Aru Majutsu no Index they introduce Accelerator, who is the strongest level 5 in Academy City. He can change vectors and whatnot.

You know, I completely skipped Index (which is also why I'm still wondering why I'm watching the side-story) and had no idea half the characters actually appear in both shows. :L

So I assume Accelerator is going to appear in Railgun too?

I'm really digging the new OP and ED. I suspect the action will ramp up soon, if the OP is any indication, and we're getting close to the end of the season. It's been a fun show, even if it hasn't realised its own potential.

Same here, though I saw about 5 episodes of Index before I quit. I actually like Railgun a lot more than Index (considering I shotgunned all 15 eps in a day :) ) And so far they keep saying that level 5 is the highest at the academy. Does that mean that there are higher levels outside?

Also, I thought Index pretty much diverged into the whole magic thing and never came back to the Esper thing. How much of the series takes place in the "Esper world"? (I just find the Esper stuff more interesting)

Jon Snyder

Railgun is entirely esper-oriented, as far as I can tell. They haven't even mentioned magic yet.

Well technically Mikoto's skills aren't entirely scientific either.

I rate episode 19 a 7/10 on the scale of hentai doujin stories, a 8/10 on the scale of Studio Deen animation, a 5/10 on the scale of Bleach plot progression and a 9/10 on the scale of otaku pandering.

I rate myself a 3/10 on the scale of modern otaku for watching all of it and smiling several times.

etto.. I watched all the 24 episodes of Toaru no Majutsu no Index and
also watching Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. I admit the early episodes of Index
lack action because of too many explanations.. But I gave it a chance.

I hooked up watching it from the episode where Kamijo Toma saved Index from the need of memory reset because of a lie that the church imposed
in order to protect the grimoires. Till a cool alchemist character by the name of Aureolus Izzard showed up possessing a skill that can turn his thoughts into reality by own words. Then the sister project arc where Accelerator came into the scene. His power can change the vector values of
anything. He's the subject of the project based on the calculations made by the Tree Diagram in creating the first level 6 esper in the academy. Then there's Counter Stop and Academy City's founder Crowley is a magician.
