I just saw all the Doctor Who Specials from the holidays, and now I'm super-duper depressed. I had to watch The Girl In the Fireplace immediately thereafter just so I wouldn't do anything rash. Still, I think I may have to declare a second front in my war against Hello Kitty, and brand all of the British continent my enemy, because these specials just ruined my holidays retroactively.
Anyone else bummed?

No, because in my opinion Doctor Who was never that good of a show. David Tennant really deserves better.
"Dalek" with the Ninth Doctor was pretty good, though.

is the current Doctor Who over or something?
EDIT: never mind I see that David Tennant is leaving, but the series is still going

Jon, to your assertion that Doctor Who was never that good, I present this picture as rebuttal:

Yes, that is David Tennant playing with a tiny, adorable kitten, and it was DW that made this possible. As far as I'm concerned, this renders all complaints about the show moot.
Besides, if what I just read is correct, Tennant's post-DW career will involve him appearing on American TV shows where he cannot use his accent- EITHER his British accent or his Scottish accent- and that is just a crime against humanity.

One DW episode revolved around him fighting a giant SPACE WASP.
Yeah, the best fantastical alien creature they could come up with was... a SPACE WASP.
That's not good science fiction by any measure.

I forgave the ending because the story was very entertaining with many twists and comic scenes. When David Tennant first became the Dr I thought "This guy has ruined it!" but then it turned out real good. So... high hopes for the new season!

Jon: I think there's no choice. I think we have to take this to the podcast.
I will accept giant wasp episodes if they entail the Doctor doing his best intergalactic-Sherlock Holmes schtick, and Agatha Christie knocking him down about five pegs. That was just fun:)

Jon - Hey, I loved the Space Wasp episode! >O
I prefer my sci-fi not to take itself too seriously.
On the topic of the specials, I have moments when I pause and reflect on them. And then I get depressed. :( I want my David-Doctor back already.

I honestly just never got into the show, everyone tells me to watch it but I've never been into british comedy beyond Monty Python.
