There, now it's a bit more like Destructoid. For anyone who would recognise my username, it's what I go by on Dtoid (and a few other places, including a similar PSN name).

I've been a fan of anime for a reasonable while. I got into it during the third week of the Naruto English dub (it's handy having a such a well-dated metric) which would put my fandom at about four years or so. I watched a tonne of Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, and Dragon Ball (Z) as a kid but I don't really count that as the start since it was just what was on.

Outside of being a first edition Narutard I like a lot of different stuff. My favourite series is probably BECK although Twelve Kingdoms is one of the only shows that made me cry because of how beautiful it was (when Taiki turned into a kirin for the first time). I like the staples: Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, FLCL, Evangelion. But I also like some weird stuff. For instance, Akagi is definitely in my top 10 and it's about mahjong.

I'm also passively into manga. Since it's a bit more money intensive I didn't ever get into it with quite the force I did with anime. However, I've bought every volume of Vagabond (30) so far so I do my part. My favourite mangaka are Hiroki Endo and Takehiko Inoue. I do also like Yotsuba&! and Azumanga Daioh a lot but I can't remember the authors name and I'm too lazy to google it.

So that's pretty much it for my anime and manga tastes. I haven't read any other intros here so I don't know how far into detail I have to go. You'll probably figure out how much of a bitter, mean-spirited crank I am soon enough, anyway.

Welcome to Japanator!

If you're open minded about reading more manga I've got these recommendations; Higurashi: When They Cry (Ryukishi07), 20th Century Boys, Pluto, Monster (All three of these are by Naoki Urasawa), and Dragon Head (Minetaro Mochizuki).

Higurashi and Dragon Head are horror whereas 20th, Pluto, and Monster are mystery/awesome.

I forgot I was reading Pluto already. I ran through the first five volumes back in October or something thinking it was finished and then had a sad. But yeah, Naoki Urasawa is great.

I'm actually trying to avoid buying anime and manga right now since I'm already trying to cut my games spending to the bone (and to the bone this year is like $500 by May) since I'm trying to save for a year in Japan.

I know you've likely heard nothing about it, but what about Jing: King of Bandits?

Also, welcome aboard. ('_')/

I still need to finish that, lol. I haven't got around to reading the last two.
