You know, if you put a joke choice in the poll, everybody will just wind up voting for that one. :p

I'm not as childish as Jon, thank you. :p
I like mine subbed, the men always sound like bitches in dubbed. =[

Wow, not a single dub fan has voted yet? That's suprising, considering the hard time they gave me on my Slayers post (http://www.japanator.com/watch-dubbed-slayers-revolution-for-free--13212.phtml).

I like to mix it up. I don't know anyone who likes Black Lagoon's sub over the dub including myself. Same goes for Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. Both had exemplary dubbing. Stand Alone Complex also had surprisingly good dubbing. I perfer the Major's English VA over the Japanese one.

But then again, those are the exceptions. 80% of the time I'll take the sub over the dub. Anime like Gurren Lagann, Cromartie, and Big Windup just aren't the same without the voices I'm familiar with. It's just a nice breath of fresh air though to see good dubbing. I think too many people don't give dubs a chance. Listen to a few and you may be surprised.

I agree on every point except "Black Lagoon". I cant stand the English voices

It's usually situational. If something has a dub, I'll go for it because I like not having to read, but if it's the stuff that hasn't been licensed, I'm not shy to watching the subs.

I think it mostly comes from me being raised off Toonami and AS dubs.

I'm not too fond of Black Lagoon's dub either.

Give all dubs a chance. There's some impressive stuff out there now, especially since we're no longer in the 90s and early 00s where anything goes.

But it's the internet where in terms of open mindedness it's always 1899.

It depends on the viewing audience and situation. If I'm alone, it's usually a sub simply because most shows I watch do not have dubs.

If I'm casually watching a series with a couple friends, dubs take the upper hand. They're much easier to follow, especially for people who normally hardly ever hear japanese.

All in all I don't often base my decision on the percieved quality of a dub or sub. It's just a matter of what suits my needs the best, or what is available.

Unless I really like the VO talent involved, I usually stay with subs to try to get closer to what feelings or inflections were originally intended.. I don't think Revy's deliver of "Buu... buu... buu" could be as chilling when converted to "oink" or "squee", for example.

You're fired.

I'll watch subs/dubs situationally. If the original language that the characters should be speaking is Western, then I'll watch it dubbed (Black Lagoon, Chevalier, Gankutsuou). Or if the dub is just awesome, as in Evangelion. I always make sure to give it a chance.

I prefer subbed, I mainly just like hearing Japanese people talk.

I really liked the Evangelion dub!

Same here. It's one of only three shows I've seen dubbed, and it's been my favourite since, so that should tell you something.

100% sub. Because subbed animes over here in my place is scary... plus, i never liked the dub version so far (in english). so, because i'm traumatized, i always listen to the original.

I generally go for dubbed but if there is no dub avalible I will go sub. Overall these days I think dubs have gotten pretty good. I agree with Excel, you should give all dubs a chance.

generally I prefer dubs, but occasionally they'll be a series that I prefer to watch subbed

take Lucky Star for example, I've listened to some of the dub and it's not bad, but the show is such an intensely Japanese one and the original voices of the characters have become so iconic that I prefer the subbed version

of course on the flip-side of that there's some shows that I couldn't imagine watching subbed, like Cowboy bebop for example where the dub was perfect

I watch either sub or dub, depending on which I consider better. For example, Lucky Star, I'll only watch subbed, because a lot of the jokes revolve around Japanese culture and it feels so much more right listening to it subbed. Others I'll mix it up, like say the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, where the voices are mostly on the same level (Crispin Freeman as Kyon equals epic beyond all repair) though dealing with the dub means dealing with Haruhi's voice (I don't know why I hate Wendee Lee's voice as Haruhi so much, maybe it's because I started on the subs but I never felt the voice matched the character at all) and the ever-present ear-bleeding terror of Mikuru's english dub voice. Others, I absolutely only watch dubbed, always, like FMA (which the lack of English dub for Brotherhood has actually made me hold off on watching it until one's released), Cowboy Bebop (for obvious reasons), Desert Punk (which transcends hilarity in the English dub), the Black Lagoon dub (again, for obvious reasons) and I think I prefer Full Metal Panic's dub voices over the subs, too; though I tolerate the subs.

, always, like FMA (which the lack of English dub for Brotherhood has actually made me hold off on watching it until one's released)

same here, for me it just wouldn't be FMA without Vic's voice as Ed's
