Hello, fellow crazy anime/manga fans. I decided to join the forum today, so this is my intro post.
After posting my first message, I noticed that under my username was a message saying, "Probably a spambot Might be a Bot." I'm actually a person. And I'm not being paid to promote any sites or programs.
Manga series I'm currently reading include:
- Yotsuba&! I enjoyed Azumanga Daioh, so I'm glad the artist has moved on to this new series.
- Detroit Metal City. It's foul, and quite stupid. But just about every chapter makes me laugh.
- Franken Fran. A series with dark humor, nudity that isn't always sexy, and a whole bunch of gore. And it has a main character who's deeply fascinating.
- Hayate the Combat Butler. It's full of crazy in-jokes, and has just the right amount of moe (not an overdose, but it's not boring or GRIMDARK).
Series that made me the fan I am today:
- Slayers TV. One of the first shows I watched. Since I've been a fantasy novel and RPG enthusiast long before becoming an anime fanboy, Slayers was very relevant to my interests. I enjoyed seasons 1-3, though I wasn't too enthusiastic about the OAVs and movies. It took me a few years to replace my old VHS tapes with DVDs...
- Ranma 1/2. Another show which I experienced as a young fan. Plotless and silly, but full of great characters.
- Fushigi Yugi. This was perhaps my first foray into the shoujo genre. I liked some aspects of it more in principle than reality... but it helped me to realize that not all anime/manga fans were male.
