so I read volume 1 and 2 of Gyo and holy shit, I fucking loved it

it was funny and scary at the same time in a Sam Raimi kind of way and parts of volume 2 reminded me of Stephen King's The Mist

I'm a huge Stephen King fan and it did remind me of him except more bizarre, Japanese and well...in manga form

the only Junji Ito I've read before was The Enigma of Amigara Fault on the internet a few years ago, which scared the shit out of me

I'm eager to check out Uzumaki next

I've only read Uzumaki and wasn't impressed. My problem with it was that the story didn't flow together at all. Certain things happen to the main character that you'd expect her to remember in the next story and she doesn't. Most of the stories are standalones, except for a lot of volume 3, but all of this crazy shit is happening in the same town to basically to the same character and you'd think she'd remember it.

I did enjoy some of the stories though and a few defiantly scared me. I just think it would have been better had it all flown together better and not been so discombobulated.

I want to check out Gyo though. Walking sharks? Sign me up!

I've read gyo and I feel bad for the girl.. I mean she's beautiful but after an incident her appearance turned awful.. For a girl like me, I mean all girls are really concern about their looks.. I just do wanna live if I turn like that..

Tomie is also written and illustrated by Junji Ito. It has been made into a series of Japanese horror films released between 1999 and 2007. Tomie tells a story about a high-school girl who's a living embodiment of lust and all of the negative emotions that go along with it..
