Well, it's possible I couldnt wait, and it's POSSIBLE I checked out episode one. Not saying I did, but I WILL say I'll still check out Funi's version on Thursday.

SPOILERS Below

Not really sure what's going on.

First episode was somewhat of a standalone, starting in the middle of the series. I don't remember an 'Ice Alchemist' story from the manga, but I could just have forgotten. In any case, it served as a good point to reintroduce the key players, I suspect. The boys, Mustang, Bradley, Armstrong, Hughes, and even Kimblee.

So I can see this going two ways: A completely new story with random adventures, somewhat like Negima?! was to the original, or this was just a standalone reintroduction, to move it quickly to the point where the story split last time.

I believe the split last time was after the death of Hughes. This episode, even in just a few Hughes scenes made the guy incredibly likable, so I think his death would still have meaning if it were to happen right away.

Quality wise, you can see the difference already in the 720 presentation. Show was nicely animated, and nicely colored. One scene in particular when the 'Ice Alchemist' went into a dark alley and came face to face with Bradley. The change in light was shown by changing everything into Black & White, aside from the blood dripping from the guy's arm, and the 'power' of the Philosopher's stone he was using. It was pretty cool.

Oh, and it looks like next week will flash back to the 'incident' where the boys lost what they lost to start this journey.

END SPOILERS

In any case, no matter what they decide to do, I look forward to more. The humor and action from the first series all return, and it feels pretty good. And I cant wait to watch it Thursday from Funi! :D

It is HERE!!
After waiting so long since the announcement, my number one series of this season (and possibly the year) has arrived!!

I was able to find it subbed by the fine people over @ gSS subs and goddammit was it great to see this series in motion once again...The OP and ED are great and the animation is top notch, the only problem I have is waiting week to week to get an episode...

Oh well, that's the price one pays for greatness...

It LOOKED good, but I'm going to wait and see how they get into the manga material before I make up my mind.

I'm hoping for this one to follow the manga series. I think the reason the first episode is 'filler' is make viewers understand that this will definitely be a different series. Having like the first 20 episodes the same as the last series would have been bad most likely..
I enjoyed it, I think the comedy moments will be more like the manga..

Prior to last week, I had not seen nor read any of FMA, but I have to say I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit. This has earned a position on my list of followed shows for this season.

Second episode gives me more hope. I have high expectations for this series though, and I'm afraid of being led along by delicious manga adaptation and then getting another crappy ending. So afraid...

I guess i'm the only person that liked the anime more than the original.

I saw only the first ep on Funimation's site, had really good fighting, atleast.

THe japanese dub is so weird (didnt hear the original japanese dub) for me.

I NEED MY 48 YEAR OLD ED ELRIC

Having seen the first episode and the whole first series, it seems pretty up to par. Decent episode, and a good first one with not too much back story and actual action.

I didn't read in the manga past the point where it and the first anime splits, so I don't have an opinion of it. Generally, FMA is a decent series, albiet somewhat overhyped by certain parts of the fandom.

5 episodes in, and it's definitely progressing the story at a faster pace the first series. And there is definitely something I don't like about the animation this time around..
