I'm Buddha, and obviously I'm new here! I come from Destructoid and I love the community there, and from Destructoid I found Japanator. I've been lurking here for a while, and I finally found the forums, so I thought I would join!

Okay, about me, I'm a 19 year old male from Orlando. I love games, anime, manga, and comics in general, and would love it if someday I could visit Tokyo.

Some of my favortie anime would have to be Neon Genesis Evangelion, Dragonball Z, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Outlaw Star, and others.

Some manga I've read/or reading would be, Battle Royale, One Piece, Naruto, Elfen Lied, Bleach, Berserk, Get Backers, Love Hina, AI I love You, Gantz, Monster, Dragonball, and others I can't think of right now.

Anything else just ask!

It sounds like you're a big fan of shonen manga, do you have any interest in some of the titles on the girlier side of the fence? Just curious. Actually so many guys I know have confessed to being into shoujo lately that I just assume that everyone must be a closet shoujo fan, lol.

Anyways, Welcome:).

Thanks for the welcome!

I really haven't found any girly anime/manga that I could get into to.

If you count Love Hina as girly then that's one, I love Love Hina.

I too am a man and I enjoy a good shoujo, so from hat hot blooded man to another here are my suggestions.

Kimi ni Todoke, simply amazing. Go read it/watch it. The anime is fantastic and while I've only read two volumes of the manga it's just as good as the anime.

Since you like Evangelion try either Neon Genesis Evangelion Angelic Days or Evangelion The Shinji Ikari Raising Project, both are set in a parallel world where everything kinda resembles the school day idea presented near the end of the anime. Angelic Days is 6 volumes and Raising Project is still ongoing.

Otomen, it's about a dude who appears as manly as they come but is secretly in love with all things girlie. It's stupid but good stupid, turn your brain off and simply enjoy.

Oh yeah, welcome to Japanator!

Seriously though, give Kimi ni Todoke a shot if nothing else.

I hate the Neon Genesis romance manga. I don't know why. :/

Anyway, welcome to Japanator, yeah. If I may recommend something, if you like Shonen manga with a unique flavor, try Jing: King of Bandits. The manga is far more detailed, I think, but there is an anime.

I'll definitely give Kimi ni Todoke a looksee, especially the manga. And if I like that I'll check out the anime.

And thanks for the welcome!

Eh, as shoujo goes they're not very good. While I liked Angelic Days it wasn't anything fantastic I just enjoyed seeing all the characters acting differently.

As far as Raising Project goes it's still to early to call. I'm only two volumes in because I'm following the American release but so far it's okayish.

Speaking of Evangelion manga, in my humble opinion the actual Neon Gensis Evangelion manga is ten times better than the anime. Not only does it make Shinji less of a whiney bitch but it also gives each of the characters more personality. Check it out if you're a fan of Eva, it's pretty damn good.

I seemed to have hijacked the thread slightly, so once again welcome Buddha!!!

The Evangalion manga is awesome, but geez it takes the man forever to draw 'em. :/

It's all good!

Glad to see there's some discussion going on!

Volume 12 will be the end of the manga, so not much more for him to draw.

Oh, I forgot to plug Higurashi. Buddha, read Higurashi: When They Cry, an awesome manga. The anime is pretty good as well, you won't ever be able to hear a cicada without a shiver running down your spine. The Visual Novel is also for sale over at MangaGamer.

I'll look it up.

Is it along the lines of the "girly" manga we were talking about earlier?

Or just a great read?

It's just great manga. It explains things better than the anime and makes a lot more sense. Half the time I had no idea what was going on in the Evangelion anime, nor did I know why Shinji was being so bitchy. In the manga it explains some of the details more clearly and Shinji isn't as bitchy anymore, plus Rei almost acts like a normal person.
