so Brad Rice since you post on here I thought it'd be cool if I could have a little one on one discussion of something with you

anyway this is about your review of Silent Hill Homecoming on Destructoid http://www.destructoid.com/destructoid-review-silent-hill-homecoming-106412.phtml

basically I thought you grossly overrated it

as a Silent Hill fan for years I was crushingly disappointed, though it did have a few interesting moments, overall I thought Homecoming was crap

everything just felt bland, from the graphics, to the story, to the scares (of which there were very few moments in the game I was scared or even creeped out) and the game just plain lacked the creepy and surreal atmosphere of the previous games, in fact it felt more like the the movie's atmosphere which brings me to my next complaint. I hated the movie, but apparently the developers of Silent Hill Homecoming were convinced that every single Silent Hill fan LOVED the movie and wanted to be reminded of it time and time again including throwing the movie's Pyramid Head in for no fucking reason other than pointless fan service

bottom line I just don't think western developers can understand this series as well as Japanese ones, the original Team Silent may be gone and never coming back, but that doesn't mean Konami couldn't have gotten other Japanese developers to take over the series, at the very least, The Collective, a developer mostly know for licensed games was NOT the right choice

oh and as far Colette and Dale go, we all know they're huge Silent Hill fans who flip for pretty much anything Silent Hill related, heck I think Colette even liked the stupid as hell Iphone games

so Brad, do you wish to defend your review? or re-analyze or thoughts? and for any other Silent Hill fans here, feel free to post your thoughts too

I agree Homecoming didn't live up to its name, but it's funny how you make it seem like it's all Brad's fault. For all you know he might've enjoyed the iPhone games too... and that means his review is justified!

I, no, what?

I can't say anything other than I stand by my review as it was published. I can take another shot at the game sometime in the future and see how I think about it the second time around.

Sorry, epic debate not happening quite yet.
