Code Monkey is not an AMV about Ichigo, or about how much Sasuke sucks, or about moe blobs of squishiness. No, this AMV is about a code monkey who fell in love with a girl, that’s all. Hey comeback here, don’t leave yet. I know it might sound like snore fest 2008, but an AMV can be great without all the things we (I) love, like violence and sex.
This AMV created by Studio Hybrid and uses scenes from the anime Legend of Black Heaven and marries it to the song “Code Monkey” by Jonathan Coulton. It’s basically about a man who wants to have something more, something beautiful. The story is nothing special, but the way it all comes together is perfect; music, editing, effects, everything. You can download a high-quality version of this AMV here.
The guy who wrote that song is the same guy who wrote the portal song. Personally I like this one more just cause it was a kind of similar situation for me back when I was working tech support at a local CompUSA. Albeit I wasn't coding at the time but trying to explain why I couldn't make an AGP graphics card work in a PCI-E slot was about as frustrating as the login screen coding that song mentions.
Oh and I bothered to look up Black Heaven....you realize the guy who did the narrator voice for Outlaw Star and did Jet from Cowboy Bebop plays that scrawny main character? That has got to feel weird to watch...
I bought the entire series when it came out because it was truly original.. Original so much that the budget for it was abysmal. I was grateful that the staff loved the work and put as much as they could on screen to at least make most of the stills look beautiful. Of course I speak of all the shots of the ladies like the one in the video.
It's a damn shame how it ended before the credits rolled, but they put in a cheat afterward! Those two where always meant for each other...
Hard Rock does indeed save Space. I highly endorse all things Black Heaven. It's a great series and anyone on the higher end of the age spectrum will probably get a kick out of the whole mid life crisis stuff. Plus, you get one of the coolest openings with "Cautionary Warning"
