FUNimation tops 8 million on-demand views in March photo

They say that the march numbers for streaming on-demand video are up 200% over last year. That's 8 million views in March. Look at you, FUNi!

A press release says that in the last three months, they've seen a monthly average increase of 15%. That's a lot of anime beamed to a lot of eyeballs. Now FUNi says that they have over 100 anime series available for you to stream, with new shows being added weekly.

CEO Gen Fukunaga on their recent successes:

“Numbers like these show how popular anime has become among the North American mass entertainment audience as well as the value of the medium,” said Fukunaga. “We've helped redefine the viewing habits of millions of people and those figures will continue to grow as we increase our line-up and as always, offer exclusive content.”

I think it's a bit more simple: People like easy access to anime.

FUNi, make an iPad app!

Kinda funny you used Lucky Star as the banner pic instead of something Funi actually has.
Yes, FUNi. Make an iPad app.
lol @ ipads.... but on topic, This for their channel or online? Or both?
I hope they have continued success, also keep the DVD/BluRay releases coming!
I'm tellin' ya, someone needs to do the differentials on this, and see whether or not the profit figures from the advertisements are equal or better than DVD sales... This stuff really could save the industry. The numbers are there, we just need to get those eyeballs connected to sales figures. Srsly. Give people something better than fansubs, and they will stop using fansubs. Sell them something in the meantime, and people will pay you to do it. Keep the ads fresh and well rotated, and then repeated viewings via streams will generate fresh sales, with fresh ad profits, thus decreasing the industry's dependence on DVD sales. It can work.
It's kind of strange but I've never actually seen an ad on a Funi webstream. I'm glad people are watching but I have to wonder how viable a business strategy it is. Bandwidth is expensive and ads are going to have trouble making up that cost. I really see downloading to own as a more viable option. But Funi could prove me so very wrong, which is all fine by me.
That's a great sign that they've successfully adapted, but the video quality is at least better than crunchyroll. It's still nowhere near decent quality though. So keep up the DVD/Blu-ray work!
This has to be mostly due to Hulu, but it is still a great thing. I've watched 5 or 6 (full) shows on there this month. I never used to watch full series on Funimation.com, their player is terrible.

More viewers = more shows coming to the US :)
Good news all around!!
