Yes, "punchy" is definitely the right word for it. I haven't seen animation this high-energy since...well, Gurren Lagann, and maybe the Lucky Star opening sequence.

The art style seems pretty different from most of the other recent anime, akin to the likes of Genndy Tartakovsky's work (Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars: Clone Wars) and a little bit of Jhonen Vasquez (Invader Zim) in that green dog. Is it a dog? I don't know.

For all the cuteness the content doesn't seem to be very G-rated, though. You may want to turn down the volume or don your headphones, because there's a lot of weird moaning in the trailer.

Watch it below. I'm definitely interested now. The show starts airing in Japan first week of October. Are you in?

Oh Hell Yes! I have no idea what is going on in the trailer, but if its anything like the comic it should be excellent. I hope I can watch it streamed somewhere.

I didn't know much about this show and thought the trailer would give me some idea of what to expect. After watching it, I feel even less informed, but more intrigued.

So it looks like a cross between Invader Zim+Power Puff Girls+Dead Leaves. At least that's what I gleamed from it.

I really don't like the art style it looks way to much like a child's cartoon(albeit one on crack) and there is no way of defending that to a non anime fan. You will never be able to convince them that the art style isn't childish like you can with other anime.

Hopefully this makes more sense in context of the series. Otherwise, it just seems like another flop akin to the current stuff you see on Cartoon Network these days, save for the adult esque nature this coming show has.

I am SO ready for this show. Granted, I tend to cut Gainax more slack to do whacked-out, "cool" stuff, but they have a real energetic aspect about their animation that runs counter to the general trends in anime right now, so it's even easier to get excited about series they make.

I dunno. The powerpuff girl art style isn't really what i like. but ill give it a shot, i suppose. but im not expecting much. Gainax needs to somehow create a Gurren Lagann 2 if they ever want another masterpiece imo.

I don't care what the haters say, at this point, people should be used to seeing things like this come from Gainax. Sure the style is different, but the feel of the animation and all the insane energy is so distinctly Gainax I would've easily guessed they were the studio working on it had I not already known.

Admittedly it doesn't look as impressive as say, Gurren Lagann, but this is Gainax we're talking about so I'm definitely going to check this show out as soon as possible.

Also, the dog is a confirmed homage to Gir. Jhonen Vasquez is fine with it, too. I'd bet we'll see a lot of western animation references.

I was kind of pessimistic on this, but that looked amazing. Animators animating crazy wacked-out shit instead of moeblob clone armies? Fuck yes to that movement.

....I was just mindfucked, but I think that's the point of the trailer. If Panty is getting action, then my brain caught some of that too lol. It's basically classic Cartoon Network on Gainax acid, plus some of that Gir reference....

I might just hitch a ride on this sexy ass bandwagon.

 


This sort of attempt at insane anime in an "American" style never seems to get much attention, although I don't really like it (apart from the exploding toilet) I am sort of hoping this is a smash hit. For all the wrong reasons.

This is pretty meta. They're interpreting the American animation of the mid-nineties that interpreted the Japanese animation of yesteryear. Awesome.

Also, everyone keeps mentioning the Powerpuff Girls (which, admittedly, are probably a pretty big influence, considering how popular both the original series and Japanese series are), but almost no Dexter? For shame.

I'm in love. Have been since someone posted manga scans on here a while back. And now I can tell that their underwear also turn into weapons! This is one of those FLCL-like things that you either love or hate.

Sex combat's been a long-time hentai genre, so I expect some good parodies in here.

well, from what i can tell, pantys pull off her panties, and turns them in to a gun, and Stockings takes her's off and turns them in to a pair of katanas.

there is prolly a wiki site that goes over this. but from the trailer, in every shot of Stockings with her katanas, she's not wearing her spooky kids stockings.
