Gantz live-action showing everywhere but America photo

Well, it's not showing everywhere. It isn't showing in Nigeria, for example. At least not yet. But it is going to show in France (at the Cannes film festival, no less), as well as Germany, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belgium, Indonesia and Switzerland.

I'd bet that Gantz hasn't been scheduled for a North American screening because IT MAKES YOUR KIDS CRAZY.

Oh well. Americans and Nigerians will have to make do with the trailer below. It doesn't quite carry the morbid aura I'm told the manga emanates, but it looks cool enough. Besides, no one can resist a giant, featureless black sphere, especially not when it's full of guns, bodysuits, and hot ladies to wear them.

Legacy Comments

As expected.
:) looks good
As expected indeed. I can't wait for it. It's following the manga's plot, instead of the anime's. which means WIN.
No surprise that it won't be in US theaters. There just isn't much of a market here for many foreign films given the quality of Hollywood films these days in comparison.

I would like to see a DVD/Blueray release of it make it here though, because this actually looks pretty damn good.
It's not coming to Australia either, so I feel your pain my American friends :(
"Well, it's not showing everywhere. It isn't showing in Nigeria, for example."

Low blow. :D *Is of Nigerian decent*

Anyway, would it be too much to ask for Switchblade to do the pickup for this title?
The anime ended before the awesome part begin (Kurono single handedly owning aliens). I'll be looking forward to it in the drama.
I am a sad panda, gantz was great and it could totally be pulled off live action. Would be some awesome CG to make that scene were titties dies to the gold statue.
Of course not. Just think if the manga makes people crazy, what will a live action version do to our children?
I bet it won't be shown in Mexico, either!
God. That woman from the "made her kid crazy" article was definitely the cause of her kid being fucked up. She has all the charm of an old leathery hooker, with those disgusting extensions....

Definitely approve of the Gantz movie there. Anything's gotta be better than the dreadful Deathnote adaptation.
Wow, looks nice. Too bad I'll never see it in theaters.

Oh well, maybe one day we'll get an American remake that's PG-13 and the entire cast is replaced with plucky Caucasian children.

*drools* I can not wait for this movie
KENICHI MATSUYAMA!??!?! *faints*

I'm gonna eat this up as soon as it's available in any way!
@ Baka Tensai

What are you talking about? Hollywood is as awful/great as it has always been. The only thing keeping this being sold to Americans is that it would have to be either dubbed or subtitled. One of which costs lots of money and looks dumb while the other is abhorrent to stupid people which is unfortunately where a lot of money is.

I think I'll be in Japan when this comes out so I'll try and see it. Otherwise I'll just "not" torrent it and then buy the possible DVD/Blu-ray release.
Going to get this on DVD/Blu-ray when it comes out, shame it is not coming out in the UK, but here is holding out hope.
You poor Americans. Don't worry, I'll be in Singapore, watching it for your sakes, and let I'll you all know how great the theatrical experience was. In suitably gloating tones. Mwa ha ha.

Sorry. Still holding a grudge over the Kalafina-in-Boston thing.
I think we won't see it in Puerto Rico either

I guess we should all be good little boys and girls and wait until Tokyo Shock, SwitchBlade or Magnet picks up the DVD/Blu Ray rights... :(
Foreign films hardly ever run in theaters here, unless its NY or LA. I'd assume it has something to do with Hollywood and the Theater MegaCorps conspiring against us :)

I'm sure it will be available on DVD/BluRay when the time comes though.
This news blows. ;__;
@Mad March Harris

Yeah I never understood why people in US hate subtitles in their movie theaters; I mean I think it's GREAT since foreign movie often sound ridiculous if the dub is less than decent. Subtitling is a cheap and fast (well more than dubbing).

So much for high education, I guess.
Looks great, but how in the world are they going to end it? And that was captain obvious that it wouldn't be shown in America.
@Yaku: It's because they hate reading while watching something. Some people just can't handle it. *sigh*
@Mad March Harris

I agree that it would sell here, but only through DVD/Blueray sales. Maybe if the movie was made in Hollywood it could make it to theaters here, but with GANTZ being so focused on action/special effects I seriously doubt people outside of fans of the series would want to go see a lower quality Japanese production of it.
This is good thing, there is enough crap circulating in American theaters, without this steaming pile of FAIL!
Looks bad actually. Make Takeshi Kitano direct it, and it sure enought would be shown in USA too.
her boobs are nowhere ear big enough >:(

So uh, yeah it is going to be in America, and also in a theatre near me so, lucky me xD
