Indie darling production K-ON! has just recently been lifted outside the fog of utter obscurity, and garnered modest commercial success thanks to a small contingent of dedicated fans.
Yeah, right. As a clear sign of acute moe poisoning, otaku all over have been hell-bent on mating one property or another with the K-ON!'s style and vice-versa.
Above is a very well-done merging of K-ON! and the equally moelicious Vocaloids in a performance of "Cagayake! GIRLS," with the Vocaloids themselves covering the actual song. I especially like the touches showing the characters playing their signature "instruments." Oh, and the appearance of the Kagamine twins' famous steamroller.
The gallery below contains other parody pictures, including blendings of Macross, Persona, Tales of the Abyss, Fist of the North Star(!!!), and the Japanese Fast Food Industry.
Lastly, hit the jump for another of my favorite mashup videos. This is the sort of thing I think of when I say that tracing and imitation are important steps towards original creative work.
But it looks very cool, and I'd like to see/read it.
