There had been reports that Yuto's Hanamaru Kindergarten would be getting an anime adaptation by J.C. Staff last year, but since then nothing more had been heard. Now, the newest issue of Young Gangan has an official announcement of an anime, but coming from an unexpected team — the director of the first Fullmetal Alchemist and Gundam 00, Seiji Mizushima, will be joined by the character designer for Shakugan no Shana, Mai Ootsuka, and animation studio Gainax.
For those that aren't familiar with it, Hanamaru Kindergarten follows the wild and very cute antics of preschooler Anzu-chan and her friends, the shy Koume-chan and the eccentric Hii-chan who loves cosplay. Anzu's got a crush on her teacher, Tsuchida-sensei (a Nintendo DS fan), but he's much more interested in the very well proportioned Yamamoto-sensei of the class next door. I really enjoy the manga, so I'm very interested in how Gainax will bring it to life.
