Happy Birthday Monchichi
January 26th celebrated on of Japan's most famous, but often forgotten exports, the adorable Monchichi! Popular idol group, 9nine was on hand to ring the franchise's 39th birthday in with style in Tokyo at Sunshine City, in Ikebukuro. Almost 40 years of these thumb sucking monkeys! The animated show made its way to the states in the 80's and sales were strong of the dolls. You can still find the dolls from time to time in the states, pretty much unchanged from their original incarnation. Here's to you Monchichi!
