Haruhi Disappearance film length revealed

Haruhi Disappearance film length revealed photo

It's time for more Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya news! The official website for the film has confirmed that Haruhi will disappear for 150 minutes, on the previously announced date of February 6, 2010. Yup, you read that correctly; the Haruhi film's running time is two and a half hours... approximately equal to seven episodes of the TV series.

The few fans Haruhi has left are quite excited by this news. Running time was one of the major concerns upon the initial announcement of the movie; many were fearful that the plot of the original novel would be condensed to fit the length of the film. That concern has been mostly alleviated by this announcement. It would seem as if Kyoani is trying as hard as they can to please their remaining fanbase.

Can this film restore Haruhi to it's former glory? I'm still skeptical, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

"The few fans Haruhi has left..."

"please their remaining fanbase..."

I would put money on nobody using their experience with EE to predetermine whether or not to watch the dissapearance. That just seems really idiotic in my book.
Cast Hirano Aya as Haruhi and everything will be fine.
um, what? (is too busy checking out the cosplayers)
Equivalent to seven episodes, huh? Isn't that convenient?

Now all I need to see is some news about the seiyu cast and I'll decide on if and how I should see this.
"...approximately equal to seven episodes of the TV series."
so endless eight, without the conclusion?
No offense, but regardless of the length, anyone who knows anything about the Haruhi universe will probably go watch it.

Because Haruhi commands it.

It's in one of her unwritten 14 commandments. Just because you can't read it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I hate to tell you but as much as people complained about Endless Eight I don't think it lost any fans. In fact the Endless Eight DVD's are selling pretty well which is somewhat shocking to me.

And I wouldn't worry about Aya Hirano playing Haruhi for the movie. She is so heavily involved in that role(Even beyond just voicing her) That it would be a total screw up to the fans who love the show if she did not play Haruhi.
@Reibooi: I think most fans are still fans. I know I am, and even though Endless Eight was a bad idea to do, at least the first episode of it was good to people.
As long as Naoko Yamada isn't directing it, I'm sure it'll be fine.
@EuricaeriS: Idiotic or not, many people will not bother with the movie because of EE. Fans tend to abandon popular franchises when they make one misstep... for example, all those who claimed that Star Wars was 'ruined' because of Episode I. Fans are fickle creatures.

@Reibooi: Endless Eight might be selling "pretty well", but it's still moving only half as many DVDs as the first season did. Furthermore, I've seen fairly compelling evidence that E8 did, in fact, cause quite a few English-speaking fans to desert the franchise. Hell, even a quick glance at the AnimeSuki Haruhi boards will reveal they're nowhere near as active as they used to be.
endless eight was annoying but not something to condemn the studio over. The rest of the season was just awful (except the very last ep). Either way I'm gonna see this but my expectations are lower now
Well, Endless Eight wasn't awful. Only most of it was. There were points in it where I was like "wow, that's pretty good" at the style.

As for the movie, I've been anticipating the animation of this book since I read it a year or so ago (I'm a bit behind). I've seen what they can do with the animation in Endless Eight. They can make this awesome. In fact, I KNOW they'll make it awesome.

.....unless Crunchyroll shows it. Then I may have to kill things.
I don't condemn KyoAni for Endless Eight. I condemn them for K-On!
