It looks like Yutaka Yamamoto, the director best known for making Lucky Star funny and dazzling us with The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi -- oh, and don't forget Kannagi -- will be tackling a live-action adaptation of the manga Watashi no Yasashikunai Sempai (My Mean Sempai.)
The romantic comedy is set on a remote island in Japan, where Yamako Iriomote is trying to confess her love to an upperclassmen, but can't manage to actually put that love letter in his shoebox or tell him how she feels. How Yamakan is going to tackle this, I don't quite know, but if it features his particular brand of humor, then I'm all for this.
The film is set to be released sometime in 2010, and I'll be looking forward to it rather eagerly.
