Over in the comments section of our Ponyo trailer post, reader njduh pointed out an L.A. Times article that says that Hayao Miyazaki will be appearing at the San Diego Comic Con this year. It makes sense, really: he's appearing at UC Berkeley, right around then, so why not make the jump over to SDCC?
Now the masses will get a chance to see the legendary director in person (including Tim, Dale, and Colette!). SDCC, from what I've always heard, is an absolute nightmare for press trying to get into events, simply because there are so many people, and it's up to dealing with the individual organizations to get yourself a seat at these places. Needless to say, everybody and their mother will be clamoring to see Miyazaki, so I don't envy the people trying to do so.
With any luck, he'll at least have a press conference, where people can get in one or two questions to the man. Doubt it'll actually happen, but man, I can't wait to see what happens there. I'll be jealous as hell, that's for sure. Enjoy SDCC, Miyazaki fans. I'll be back here on the East Coast sulking.
