Hey Kindle, why are you dropping your yaoi content? photo

Because that's not cool!

Now, granted some of the titles removed from Digital Manga Publishing's Kindle catalog might have fallen afoul of Amazon's content guidelines, but that wouldn't have been true for its milder June imprint, if the yaoi fans I know have anything to say about it. Further, why tell Yaoi Press to tone down their cover images, too? Boy love demands to er...swing freely!

Of course, it might not just be a case of misplaced prudishness, but one might take the conspiracy theory angle. None of the titles from Animate, a Kindle-exclusive yaoi publisher, have been removed yet.

That's not cool, either!

this doesn't bother me any hahaha sorry yaoi fans, but i'm not a fan. so yeah
yeah me neither.. two dudes kissin = me vomiting LOL!!!
"might have fallen afoul of Amazon's content guidelines"

I buy explicit erotic manga from Amazon JP that contains tentacles, rape and loli; I don't think they really have 'guidelines'...
i remember when i bought a couple of yaoi manga's in the past and never really new what yaoi meant not to mention i never really read them just went through the pages in seconds, so after many many months i decided to read one, so i went through it and saw some things i felt uncomfortable with then it hit me.. that stupid me had gay manga on the shelves between my other books which happens to be in my own living room where me and my friends hanged out and still do and my family visits and my twin sister whom i guess must've went through my stuff might deep down think that i like to suck dick.. how is that for a reason that i'm happy they removed yaoi from kindle's library!!
I'm quite disappointed. I've recently been thinking about getting a Kindle and I thought it would be a good way to get to read yaoi and erotica without being too obvious.

@Lemon01 That is the stupidest thing I have ever read. Like, I can't get over how stupid the whole comment is from start to finsih.
OH AT LEAST THE YURI IS FIIIIIIIINE. >.> AND AT LEAST HETEROSEXUAL HENTAI IS JUST FIIIIIINE TOO.

But it's okay, since Amazon is telling everybody this: "Occasionally books are removed from the Kindle Store for various reasons. We don’t have any details about why this particular book may have been removed."

&Lemon01

Uh huh, your fail story has any relation to Kindle how...? Kindle's erotica section is a pretty huge section...over 21K ebooks! Owning a gay themed book don't make a person gay. Anyone who thinks that needs to check their train of thought.

Even if one isn't a yaoi fan, it's something to consider. As of right now, it seems that Amazon has been selective over which yaoi/hentai they remove. And apparently, they rejected a digital version of yaoi, but are still willing to sell a print version of it.

It makes me laugh when some people are so insecure about their sexualities they need to spend the time and effort to make a juvenile comment about their homophobia. Keep it classy, guys.

I for one call bullshit. They have a load of erotica and porno way more explicit than most yaoi titles readily available while the gay comics get shafted? It seems like someone in Amazon has an issue. And before anyone goes "hurr hurr you hate yuri/hentai stupid fangirl hurr" I'll let you know I read everything under the freaking sun.
I agree with everything Yaku says.

Also - laughing zetsubo, Nephrite, Lemon01, would you be more concerned if it were something like yuri, hentai, or ultra-violent manga were yanked with no explanation? Don't let your inability to cope with the existence of yaoi get in the way of understanding how sketch this sort of behavior is...

Normally I'm pleased by the minimum level of maturity that is displayed on Japanator comment threads, I wish that would apply to BL related posts too :/
I don't like to see any content banned unless it's child porn, because it sets a dangerous precedent for over-editing and infringing on our freedom to publish, purchase and read what we want.
i read your reply about some of the comments including mine guys and i do apologize if i gave a false impression i'm not homophobic or anything of the sorts. its just i liked to share a story on the matter, yet i do know it mostly has nothing to do with the post, but hey its all good if yaoi is your thing guys then who cares i know i don't judge.

@ evilnekohilda- no i actually wouldn't be concerned, because i don't think i'll buy any digital manga in the first place whatever the category maybe, yet i would be a little curious as of why.
Kindla has manga? Wow.
Better yet: Kindle has manga?

Ugh, typos.
"None of the titles from Animate, a Kindle-exclusive yaoi publisher, have been removed yet."

That's not actually true. There were a few removed even as of yesterday.
