French-Canadian anison singer thanked fans on twitter

On her Twitter account yesterday, Canadian-born anime music act HIMEKA, who was with the Japanese anime/game record label 5pb, announced that she is no longer signed with 5pb. The tweets details her career in Japan as a foreigner that won the Animax Anison Grand Prix in 2008 and was offered a recording contract. From that, she worked with Sony and then 5pb over the years.

The tweets continued to thank the various companies that enabled HIMEKA to pursue the anison career, and the fans that supported her over the years. It seems that unless she signs with another company before May 2nd, she will return from Japan. However, she promises that regardless what happens, she will continue to pursue a career in music.

While it's rare to read or write about this kind of news for someone debuted with a major label, the French-Canadian singer is not the first anison act in 2014 that is looking at an end. Earlier this year Megumi Nakajima also has announced that she will retire from her music career while continuing her voice acting work. HIMEKA's next and last single from 5pb, the opening theme for the PS Vita port of We Without Wings, will probably go on sale later this year. It's definitely very hard to see one of North America's own falling on hard times after doing something this amazing, so we wish and hope for the best for her no matter what happens.
