Live, in Brazil. Yes, I live in Brazil, on the other side of the world from Japan. What are the odds?
Let me explain. So, today, I was going back to work, walking in the streets like I do everyday. I work in São Paulo, Brazil's and Latin America's biggest city. That's less impressive than it sounds, it's not a very good place to live, but anyway, it's a big city, and I work near São Paulo's most important avenue. You know, there's big buildings, busy people walking pretty fast everywhere, while not-so-busy people take their time to enjoy a coffee, a cigar or just take a break from the work on the offices.
Traffic is intense all day in some streets nearby. Then, I saw some police officers on motorcycles closing the flow of cars in one of the streets. "Great, someone got murdered in the middle of the street", I thought. Then, more motorcycles and police cars passed by, and after that, a bus full of Japanese people wearing suits.
And then, I saw him. This Japanese man, with his unique white hair waving with the wind. No, I'm not gay, I am not in love with him. But I think he was Junichiro Koizumi, the most awesome politician in the world.
I think my heart stopped beating for a moment, while I was all "WTF?! Is that Junichiro Koizumi?! In Brazil?! WTF is he doing here?!". Millions of thoughts blazed through my mind, as I gathered my strength to keep walking back to my work.
So, anybody out there know where was Junichiro Koizumi today, Thursday, March 4th 2010? Was he in Brazil? If so, I just saw him and I like to think I saw the man in person. This just made my day.
Maybe, my life.
