iPad: ZOMG! Amazing scribbles by Yoshitoshi ABe photo

Japanese artist Yoshitoshi ABe has unintentionally made an advertisement for Apple's iPad that does a better job of increasing the device's do-want factor than any of the real commercials do. It's just him sketching!

I...uh...this makes me sick. I answer email and read books with my iPad. Meanwhile, ABe is doing amazing things with his fingertips. I feel like I don't even deserve the device anymore.

What's amazing about the below 4-minute video is that even though you're seeing it happening, you still don't believe it.

still dont see a point to ipad. Tablet PCs do more for same/less price ..but anything I need to do portably I can do on my phone
So I downloaded this app -- It's actually really fun to play with. It makes it much easier to sketch with than some of the more professional apps on the market. The app in question is Livesketch HD and runs for roughly 99 cents. :)
You're right! I still don't believe it, man that's some skill right there...
this is bull crap this thing was already drawn there is no way you can make something that good with just your finger and no pointed tip
@DorjiFAU

I beg to differ. I did this in 5 minutes. I don't have Abe's skill, and I'm certainly no artist, but if I could doodle that with my finger, I have no doubt he could have done the video above with his own.
advanced finger paint !!

looking price wise i still prefure drawing on my dsi xl with colors

This is what I need instead of tons of bond paper for sketching on-the-go.
dang, that would be the only thing I would want to use it for. haha. I didn't know you could draw on it.
doesnt matter if i have the ipad or not, i cannot draw that well...period. I am not going to go and get one of these in direct replacement to say, a wacom tablet accessory.
... I would get the ipad just for this. And maybe the ebook feature. (damn, I want more money.)

...
He just...drew a legitimate sketch...
with his FINGER.
That's honestly awesome, but...there's no way I would be able to draw anything like that, so I'm still going to be passing on the iPad. There's nothing I would do on it that I wouldn't rather do on a laptop or that wouldn't be more convenient on my iPhone.
Wow, really beautifully done. Makes me wanna' mess around with one pretty badly. I like the idea of a fully portable digital tablet.
@Tim Sheehy - that doodle of yours if very cool.. reminds me of that cartoon character Cool Joe!
Happy with my reasonably priced laptop that feels no threat whatsoever from this non-existant market that Jobs wants us all to believe exists.
AbE is amazing. Nothing else needs to be said.
@kougeru
It's mostly because it's simpler to some people and a decent portable media player. Plus, if you get it for free, it seems even better.
That was pretty amazing, I can't even do that with a full hand.
And it only takes 4 minutes too. That's special.
Incredible! I love ABe's works, to know he can do it so ...effortlessly is just even more amazing :D
