Those who say Japanese and Chinese relations are strained are crazy because they haven’t heard the news that a joint Chinese-Japanese adaptation of the famous novel the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is underway. For those of you living in a cave, Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the original story behind Dynasty Warriors, Koihime†Musō, and The Ravages of Time.
The Chinese side of this equation will be handling the production side, stating that they will ensure that the essence of Chinese history and culture will be permeating throughout the show. The Japanese side will be the ones actually making the show, with Future Planet Co. producing it. The best news is that it will air in June, lasting 52 episodes in length.
Even though most of us have been beaten to death with this story, I still think this has the good chance of rocking depending on what direction they take. Will they do a serious, military drama rendition like the original story, or will they do an off-the-wall shonen fighting-type of anime? What would you rather have?
