J-drama Buzzer Beat sweeps Drama Grand Prix Awards
Yes, J-drama fans, Japanator told you Buzzer Beat was a must-watch while it was still airing this season. It was a perfect mix of light hearted romance, just enough sports not to be a total bore, and the kind of supporting characters you hope to meet in every drama you watch. In the recent Nikkan Sports-hosted Drama Grand Prix awards (which are voted on by fans), Buzzer Beat wiped the floor with the competition, taking home Best Drama, Best Actor for Yamashita Tomohisa, Best Actress for Kitagawa Keiko and Best Supporting Actress for Kanjiya Shihori. Past winners in the category were Proposal Daisakusen, Hana Yori Dango 2, Great Teacher Onizuka and Ryusei no Kizuna. In otherwords, really solid dramas. Nice to see Buzzer Beat join the ranks of those shows. Hit the jump to see all the nominees in each category and how many votes each got.
