Japan gets the first Gurren Lagann movie in April photo

Great news, everyone! Gainax has announced that the first Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie will be coming out on April 22nd. And boy, are they really decking the thing out. There'll be two discs contained within, as well as a drama CD, several really well done illustrations for the art, and a bit more. For those of you diehard Gurren Lagann fans, you can get all of this from the limited edition for 7,140 yen!

Still no word on a Blu-ray version yet, which is rather disappointing. I mean, series like To Aru Majutsu no Index are being released on Blu-ray. Perhaps Gainax just hasn't jumped on the Blu-ray train yet.

So, what does this mean for us fans out here in the US? Well, first, the process of getting the Gurren Lagann movie over here in the US will be sped up now that Japan has made its DVDs, I hope. C'mon, Bandai, we've been dying for this. Also, now that it'll be on DVD, that means that everyone will be pirating it the day the fansubs get this translated. So, best announce it right quick, guys!
