Japan inches closer to Ghost in the Shell reality with pilotable tachikoma

Japan inches closer to Ghost in the Shell reality with pilotable tachikoma photo

Design Festa just wrapped up (May 16-17 at Tokyo Big Sight), and one of the impressive bits to come from there was a tachikoma -- the robots from the Ghost in the Shell anime -- large enough to fit a person inside of it. The creator, Mr. Kougei, can pilot the thing from a joystick and controller that is powered by four motors for the legs.

HobbyMedia is going to be interviewing the man soon, hopefully, and so I look forward to reading the google-translated version of it all. We'll be sure to pull more from that interview once it happens, or once Mr. Kougei decides to put up a website for the tachikoma project, like many Festa attendees do with their works. At least that I can stumble through reading. Be sure to check out HobbyMedia for more photos from the event of this marvelous creation.
