This holiday season is shaping up to be a broke few months for myself. Bandai Visual Japan just announced that they will be releasing Ghost in the Shell standalone features on Blu-ray disc. The Laughing Man, 2nd GIG Individual Eleven, and Solid State Society are all slated to receive the high def treatment. If you aren't familiar with these titles, basically instead of sitting through hours and hours of episodes, these titles tell the story of the Stand Alone Complex saga in 2 hour films. So if you're interested in the Ghost in the Shell universe but don't have enough hours in the day, this would be the perfect gift for you!
Due out December 22nd, Solid State Society marks the first original work from the Ghost in the Shell franchise since its venture onto Blu-ray. The set will set you back $80, but that high price shouldn't give you too much heartburn as it was announced that the films are available with both English dubs and subs on them. So, now that you guys and gals have all this juicy info, I will stop yapping and just let you know to hit the jump for movie trailers galore!
This makes me happy, except, you know, I would rather watch the series because they're so good.
