I also bring up my obsession with Baccano!, and agree with the Kimi Ni Todoke ending. Let's see, what else... I like both of Durarara!!'s endings, I thought Gankutsuou's was good, Haibane Renmei, Aria, Evangelion (unsure if that one really counts, though), and all of the Fate/Stay Night endings.

As for bad ones, I hate the Black Lagoon ending, especially since it comes out of nowhere every time. None other immediately come to mind as particularly bad, though.

I still think the Kimi ni Todoke live-action just won't be able to capture the kind of expressions Sawako made in the anime.

Also, just to throw in some sports talk, this World Cup has shown exactly why I cannot support soccer. For the past decade American sports have been extensively using technology to make officiating accurate. As long as FIFA outright refuses to include it despite the cornucopia of blown calls, why should it be supported?

The ending theme to Arakawa has become one of my favs. This was such a hilarious podcast. I hope you guys put together a video for the epic kung fu match between Brad and Ben, at Otakon.

@Marlin. Speaking as a fan who calls the game football, I think FIFA is just filled up to the brim with luddites who remember that one or three hundred handballs the referee managed to miss while they were playing - no that still doesn't sound right - they are just technophobic idiots.

Also, what kills the game for me is a defensive team that refuses to score and instead turtles for the entire match. I wish imminent defeat upon them for boring me to death.

P.S. Kin no Nami Sen no Nami is by far my favourite ending theme from Aria the Origination.

Regarding Level 5 games, they're kind of a mixed bag for me. The things they do on the visual side are always impressive, and I like how they embrace the anime angle with the cel-shaded look they often employ, rather than just taking the usual path of "hi-def graphics." The Achilles' Heel of L5 games, though, is their narrative structure. Taking Rogue Galaxy as an example, the story is cool and shows a lot of promise for something expansive and adventurous in scope, while also somewhat politically charged, yet the last fourth of the game basically swings it entirely into typical fantasy RPG territory, which was a huge disappointment, and it's a testament to how enjoyable the game is otherwise that I like it in spite of its narrative shortcomings. I've heard similar rumblings about the Dark Cloud games, which I don't own, but the next L5 game I'm going to tackle will be Dragon Quest 8 (which I haven't heard a lot about in regards to its story - perhaps that's a good thing).

Also...totally with Colette on the sentiments about Square's games these days. I used to be such a Squaresoft fan - most of my PS1 games are Squaresoft games, and in that generation, I could actually pick up almost any game made by Square expecting it to be good, and usually have it deliver. Once Squaresoft became Square-Enix, it's like some fundamental aspect of the company changed, and they just stopped making games of the type that I gave a shit about. That and all the noteworthy people either went freelance or splintered off into their own companies, so basically, the Squaresoft I used to swear my fealty to is gone anyway.

Also, +5 points to Karen for loving Chrono Trigger, even 15 years on. It's still my favorite game, period, possibly because my nostalgia stat is high, but it really is a fantastic game, and with a lot of console RPG elements that were WAY ahead of its time too (non-transition battles on the area map, enemy position mattering due to the area-of-effect of some skills, multiple endings, new game +, and a game that's satisfyingly well-paced and doesn't pad its length). Good taste!
