@shinobiflip: I don't think so! You can just use a generic picture of a maid outfit and play around with it. There are plenty of them from anime so you can just use the idea from those and alternate the style.

Honestly For the outfit,
I'd suggest a maid outfit but replacing black and white with a light pink and maybe a light teal/light blue color, that's probably the easiest, as well well as simplest way to go, by changing the color scheme, maybe adding some of the flower-looking graphics like on her pupils to it, otherwise not much else without getting too complicated, and maybe a pink bow on top as well.

And for more advice if you haven't checked it out already, the Cosplay.com forums have a lot of tips on putting together and sewing cosplay items/outfits.

Pink bow should be added to the maid hat.

The Body color of the dress would be a light pink with a slightly darker but still light blue or teal added to it, with white for the ruffles.

And if you need to I can upload examples of the colors I'm talking about, and probably some light pink blush on your cheeks to bring out color, if the blush is in the shape of a heart then that is a bonus.
And maybe a white/pink cape on the back of the uniform like the cape Nia wears really early on.

@mega324386: LOL. I love how you point out Nia isn't a skank, haha. Thanks for your contribution! As I said in the rules, it did have to be pink so I really didn't want any black. ^^ You're on the right track with the idea of colors, though! For the bow on the head, do you mean a big bow?

No problem, I take digital art, so I know a bit about color wheel, design, such and such. So the challenge of coming up with an outfit seemed like fun, even though I can't draw *sigh*.

As for the Bow, a red one could work, but either pink or white would probably mesh best.

But for what I mean;

Maids have those head dress type objects, I'm saying the bow might be sewn to the back of it or worn on the back of your head with a strap holding the bow to your head running underneath the maid head dress.

Now, for the bow size, We need to look at both how it will work in terms of flowing with the rest of the outfit, movement obstruction, and etc.

We want it to be a decent size but not too big, if it's too big it might pass the point of being 'moe' and end up being cheesy , as well as it falling off more easily, or if sewn on, pulling off the head dress,

Sadly, I really can't do a step by step instruction on how to make a cosplay outfit because I'm really not a pro when it comes to making costumes. For one, I don't use a sewing machine so teaching people how to hand sew a costume is a pain ;_; And I practically guess how to make everything, which is the 100% truth. I wouldn't feel right to make a tutorial on that kind of thing .. Sorry.

@Koiyuki: Quality doesn't matter, it's okay! Only thing that's important is having a clear detail on the outfit so I can understand as best as I can what you're idea is.

If you plan to put something on Nia's head, maybe having the hair detail is a good idea. You don't have to have all the long hair and whatnot but the hair on the head will help.

This be my entry~ I tried to stay as true to Nia's outfit as possible. The GL logo on her apron has a little pin on it that resembles Nia's hair flower, and can be moved anywhere on her apron if desired. I think it's really cute to be on the GL logo though ^_^ Also, the bow in the back could be pinned on to the apron strings, just for simplicity's sake and ease of putting on the costume.

Forgive the crappy phone pic and coloring, I'm trying to learn how to color well with markers :3 Starting off with cheap markers before I move on to prisma or copic >_>

OK this is my contribution...i might have over stepped the boundaries of "MOE" but i'm pretty much sure you'll be the talk of the cafe. No fancy patterns, just plenty of pink and ruffles (i hate drawing ruffles)...and skin.

Okay, this is like a last minute thing I did because I really don't want to study for finals right now. Although it looks like the details are a bit much, they really aren't if you deconstruct it (I don't have a sewing machine either so I know your pain.) The ruffles (should you decide to use it) is all along an edge and if you're the type to double-over fabric in order to make a clean edge, this shouldn't be a problem (when making the ruffles, just gather the fabric every once in a while.)

From the top, obviously you have a Nia wig so yay. the head thing (I never know what it's called) is really simple with a gold trim along the bottom. You can do one of two things with that: glue the ruffles onto a headband and leave the ends dangling long or attach the ruffles onto a gold-colored strip of fabric and sew on two long pieces to tie underneath the wig. In either case, the flower thing can be attached directly onto the head thing or a separate piece like a hairpin. (I would just attach it like a hairpin. Otherwise, it will keep on going off balance.

A lot of the rest is pretty much straight forward. I know that not having straps are a bitch, hence the thin strap things. (I'm really not eloquent.) Garters to hold up the stockings (or simply for decorative purposes) and I honestly think that keeping the stockings white looks a lot better. Although you really can't see it in the drawing but I tried looking at it with pink stockings and it was just too much pink. Gold and red accents on the dress doesn't make it too princess-y and.... I have nothing more to say.

I haven't looked at anyone else's designs yet because I didn't want to copy :P so hopefully it looks different! The dress is just pink with a white collar and white ruffles on the sleeves. The apron is white with ruffles and has the red design from Nia's hair-thingy on the ties on the back. She's wearing the regular shoes and wristbands. The stockings are white with ruffles and for hair accessories I just have a white ruffly headband-thing.

Hopefully it's not too boring- but I tried to add Nia details into it!

Yay! I finally made it!

I wanted to do a simple Maid design really cute but still have a inspiration based on Nia's outfit. I really like the traditional maid look and I think it would be simple enough!

For the headband I added two of the flower pins on each side which has two of the ribbons on each side

I didn't draw any shoes because I can't draw nice shoes, but I thought that red mary janes (comfortable for your feet as well) would look great with this outfit!

The frills or lace is optional, I think it adds more flair to the apron.

I know the Logo is kinda weird seeing that Nia's hair is long. I liked it a lot, so I kept it as a GL symbol where you can occasionally move your hair forward and peek out the logo. I thought it was a cute addition when she wore her jacket as well.
