Japanator Does Not Recommend: Suck My Dick or Die (NSFW)

When you fire up a game with a title like Suck My Dick or Die, you should more or less know what you're getting into. Liquid's adventure game involves military forces, your typical young anime girls with big eyes, and rape. Lots and lots of it. Suffice to say the same rules apply that did when we reviewed Enzai, the yaoi adventure game -- this is very NSFW stuff, and you do not need to be reading this review at work.

You're at home safe, then? The wife's asleep, the dog's asleep, it's 3 am? Yeah, that's about right. If you want to know if it's worth your $42 to start rapin err'body around here,  then hit the jump, but be prepared for an absolute onslaught of very sexual images. Please do not proceed past the jump if you are offended in any way by depictions of violent sexual acts.

In other words, liking this game is not going to win you any friends.

Title: Suck My Dick or Die
Publisher: MangaGamer
Manufacturer: Liquid
Price: $41.53 (subject to change due to the exchange rate)

Suck My Dick or Die literally doesn't beat around the bush. After about five minutes of play, you're involved in a gang rape scene as one of the participants. This is what you came for, I hope, because they pretty much get right to it. I at least have to hand them that-- I didn't have to sort through a bunch of story bullsh*t  to get to the naughty stuff.

Sex aside though, let's consider the adventure itself here. The story behind Suck My Dick or Die is described on the MangaGamer website like so:

The anti-government guerrillas were fighting against the government in the country which was politically unrest. There was an incident that a little girl was raped and murdered by the guerrillas in a small village. Mr. Prosper, who is the commander of the military, advanced his men to this small village to hunt the guerrillas. But the incident was all planned out by him, so that he could have a raping party for himself. The girls, who were suspicious as guerrillas, were arrested. That was the beginning of the insane raping party.

If this had you raising your eyebrows, I have news for you -- the same not-quite-right English is present in the game too. I would call the translation amateur at best. Although a lot of it is understandable, there are some major dialogue flaws that just sullied the overall experience for me. I expect that if I pay nearly $50 for a game that the dialogue be flawlessly translated, and that is simply not the case here.

The characters are pretty straightforward, nothing really special either in the art style or the personalities. The quiet maid, the wise yet beautiful teacher you have a crush on, the hardass female soldier: they're all here. It all feels like a pretty shabby draping for the core of the story, which is violent sex and rape.

When I reviewed Enzai, I realized that there is a conflict on the part of any reviewer when choosing to recommend a game with themes like this. In that case, the game was well done, and so despite the content I did find myself considering that the audience is there for it, so it really did deserve to be recommended.

Unfortunately, I can't award Suck My Dick or Die the same accolades. It's fairly lackluster from translation to music to art style, and that doesn't even factor in the issue of the blatant misogynist themes. Those are there for a reason, obviously, and if you're going to spend this much money to fulfill a fantasy, you may as well spend it on a quality product that caters to your fetish than a shabby one.

wow i came in here thinking this was a thread bashing read or die but i see it's now and now im laughing at this game
yay needless publicity for a shitty title. Is it simply a lack of availability of quality titles that spawns these reviews?
"ugh...gulp...." LMAO wtf
i thought there was a hentai oav already that animated this game. i remember reading a very similar plot summary.

anyway, i thought that this game was fairly well reviewed, and i applaud your guts for having done so. the game is probably crap, and although i don't have an interest in playing eroge or visual novels (hell i've tried) i'm fairly certain that if i did, i'd hate this game too.
Rape is way too common in hentai. It's disturbing.
FYI, the screencap images on the front page are still plain to see for everyone. Kinda defeats the purpose of the NSFW tag.
"I'm going to dad off"

Is that like a kind of Duel where you get your father to fight for you?

Man, I wouldn't like to have a Dad Off with Luke Skywalker...
can we get past gang rape? :/ I don't see how that can possibly be popular.
Gang rape is the best kind of rape. It's like eating a Wonderball, you just have to earn it.
@planetarian -- We don't choose to review "only good titles". Reviews don't work that way. You review what's released.
^^ pwn'd!!!! lol
ya the nsfw is repetitive, i honestly dont care to gang its not that fun to read, good games would be fate/stay night or the infinity serieies, or if you want a short one a drug that makes you dream is great as well, not all games are buisnessmen and schoolgirls on trains filled with tentical summoning windows....only a couple dozen are
Nice to know that Colette doesn't like misogynist themes.

The Engrish in this is just over-the-top bad. It's like they didn't even try.
I love Enzai because of its gritty, dark story and almost all sad/bad endings, but this doesn't seem to be quite the kind of dark game I like. Like you said, for almost 50 bucks I'd expect something more polished, but that screenshot of "I'm going to dad off" is a definite killer buzz.
Any arguments in this comment thread must be resolved by a Dad Off!
Dear Colette,

Alt+Printscreen puts an image of your currently active window onto the clipboard for you to paste into your image editor of choice. Unless you enjoy taking pictures of your screen, to which I apologize...

And in defense of Manga Gamer, their current translation crew is infinitely better than the former...
@Sacchinftw

Some games and software have safeguards in place that prevent users from taking screenshots. The reason behind this is to prevent people from ripping the images from those games for distribution. I imagine that was the case. It's true that MangaGamer may have translators who are better than the team responsible for this game, however that's something everyone should judge on a case by case basis.

Obviously this isn't the only product they've ever released.
Someones thirsty

Came for the gang rape, stayed for the dad off.
You gotta give credits to the creators, or the translator, for the title. It's sincere, it's straight to the point, and you know exatcly what to expect from a game with this title.

No chance of a child being confused by a title like "lick my sweet lollipop" or something like that.
BWAHA HAH HAAA!! That's the game's title!? Holy mother of God--no, you could not make this one up!

Well, like Rank57 said--it is sincere and get's right to the point. You really do know what you're getting from this title.
i agree
Wow this isn't what I expected when I accidentally clicked on this link, but jeez what kind of title is that and seriously who buys a game about rape for $50? Rape is a turn off and who looks at a case and goes " Huh suck my Dick or Die... Sounds good I'll buy it."?
