Japanator Link Love: Waseda Ramen photo

[We continue our "link love," a selection featuring other great websites that share our interest in Japanese culture.]

I love food just as much as Dale does. Hell, this column was started on food. So, it's only proper to return to that field every so often, and Waseda Ramen is a site you'll want to keep bookmarked on your phonewhen traveling around the streets of Tokyo.

With over 120 reviews up over the past two years (and plenty more to come, it seems,) Waseda Ramen is a blog by Nate, who is attempting to eat at every ramen shop in the general Waseda area -- known as the "ramen challenge zone," an area known for its abundance of noodle shops.

The description Nate puts into each bowl of ramen gives you such a good idea of what the food will taste like, you can practically smell it. It's definitely food porn, and something I always end up reading not too long before lunchtime.

To see what I mean, check out his most recent post about Seihoku-tei. The food looks absolutely divine, and my mouth is watering just from reading his description. There are also posts about shops like Beyond Baba that will get you some good eats while in Akihabara.

Well, next time I'm in Japan, I'll buy you lunch/dinner/midnight snack if you'll take me to a good ramen place, Nate. Keep up the great work.

Legacy Comments

Hey, thanks so much for linking my blog! Glad you like it. Keep checking back for more new posts all the time - I don't plan on getting sick of ramen anytime soon!

A couple things I wanted to add / clear up - I've actually only had the blog going for about 10 months, and even though the blog is called "Waseda Ramen", most people in Tokyo would think of the area as "Takadanobaba" or "Baba" first; I was going to call my blog "Baba Ramen" but it was already taken! So, "Beyond Baba" is how I tag all my posts outside of my own neighborhood, rather than the name of a specific shop.

In the future, I plan on adding maps and addresses (or maybe one big map) for the shops, so it's easier for people who are in Tokyo to actually find them. Plus, of course, lots more bowls of ramen from all over Tokyo.

And next time you're in town hit me up so we can grab a bowl!
Mmm this looks delicious! It's a great idea for a blog. I'll read the blog tomorow..
