Japanator's Winter '10 preview, part 2

Welcome to another edition of our winter preview! Now that you've made your way through the exciting shows of the first portion, it's time to slog through...the less than exciting titles of this second part. I guess that's the punishment for doing things alphabetically.

So, on the shortlist, we've got Gag Manga Biyori+, Hanamaru Kindergarten, Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3 and Heartcatch Precure! Out of the group, we're planning on reviewing one of them. Maybe two of them will actually see fansubs.

These aren't titles to hold your breath over, but you may as well understand what we're dealing with here in the anime world.

Gag Manga Biyori+
Studio: Artland (Umisho)
Director: Akitaro Daichi (Fruits Basket)
Air Date: January 4th, 2010

Enjoy some nonsensical random gags in this sequel of what I presume to be a fairly popular series that's never going to see the light of day outside Japan. Hell, I can't find subs of the program, so I think that gives you an idea as to just how nonsensical it is.

So, don't expect to see much coverage of it from us.

Hanamaru Kindergarten
Studio: Gainax (Evangelion)
Director: Seiji Mizushima (Gundam 00)
Air Date: January 10th, 2010

It's a show about kindergartners, from the company that brought you FLCL, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gurren Lagann. I don't know if I'm being trolled or what here, but besides the antics of these cute little kids in diapers, the characters' teacher has the hots for another class' teacher, so there's some drama there.

I'm not quite sure what's going to happen. Are the children going to pilot mecha? Is one of them going to be named Shinji? I'm expecting something high-quality out of you, Gainax. So don't let me down, here.

Expect Karen Gellender to be tackling this one.

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3
Studio: Yumeta Company (Miracle Train)
Director: Aki Tsunaki (Miracle Train)
Air Date: January 3rd, 2010

Based off a PS2 game, and one of the latest number of sequels and several OVAs, the story is about a girl who gets pulled into a fantasy world and is made the Priestess of the Dragon God. She's got powers that can help save the world, and eight men protecting her from evil.

Just from that description, though, it reminds me of Escaflowne, although in a much cheesier sense, and I'm not expecting high production values out of this. Don't expect anyone on staff to be throwing punches over who's covering it.

Heartcatch Precure!
Studio: Toei (Dragon Ball Z)
Director: Unkown
Air Date: February (undecided)

Magical girls! Love, heart and justice! Heartcatch Precure is strongly aimed at the 5-10 year old girl demographic (and Nagi), so I think it's safe to say most of you won't be watching this. It's one of those fairly basic shows aimed at children with typical themes, and is a sequel
