Japanese hidden camera show uses sniper attacks for comedy, world media reacts predictably
by Andres Cerrato, 10/18/2009

Japan loves to take things over the top. Some of its game shows probably violate several conventions of the UN Declaration of Rights of Man. Though one show in particular, Panic Face King, to some internationally, may have taken things too far this time.

In the episode, a man is in a room with 3 other people when sniper fire suddenly takes the room, killing those inside. The man sneaks away in fear until the fake officers and host come into the room. Meanwhile, the studio audience laughs hysterically. However, controversy begins once the Daily Telegraph in England gets wind of the show and later appears on the news aggregate Drudge Report and the Huffington Post. Predictably, no one likes the idea of snipers being used for comedy.

Even though while we haven't seen specifically seen a sniper attack, I can't imagine how many countless times I've seen situations which are as equally fear inducing on similar shows. Do you think the show took things too far or was this a great piece of comedy? Let us know in the comments.
