K-ON! girls to be part of Japan's 2010 census? Seriously?

K-ON! girls to be part of Japan's 2010 census? Seriously? photo

So, even the Japanese National Census has gone moe. According to the official K-ON!! page, the character images of the K-ON!! girls will be used in the census. All I can say is "wow."

Actually, that's a lie. I can just imagine how the census will go. Each girl will ask you one of the major questions, in her own moe-tastic way.

Mugi: "How many slaves do you own?"

Mio: "The great nation of Japan is in dire need of progeny to secure our continued future as a world leader. Have you found a bride yet? Do you already have children? Th-th-then you should have more!"

Ritsu: "It's all about the big bucks. C'mon, how much do you make?" And once you've listed it, "Really? Only that much. C'mon, you can do better!"

Yui:"What do you think I should do in the future?"

Azusa: Please, don't become a NEET. No, I don't have any questions to ask, I'm just concerned for your future."

If they've got original art, either from the KyoAni folks or Kakifly, I think this might actually be pretty cool. A little embarassing for Japan as a country, but pretty cool for otaku. It seems like Japan is slowly drifting closer and closer to the world that Milton imagines in Peepo Choo...
