Katsuhiro Otomo returns!
Legendary anime director and mangaka, Katsuhiro Otomo makes his trimphant return to glory with his new short film, Combustable, part of the upcoming Short Peace anothology. The upcoming 13 minute film has also started creating quite a bit of Oscar buzz, and is on the short list for a possible nomination in the Best Animated Short category. The infamous Otomo is best known for his groundbreaking work, Akira, which set major milestones for the anime and manga industry in the US. Short Peace also features talent such as, Katsuhito Ishii, Shuhei Morita, and Hajime Katoki. I don't know of any plans for US screenings at this time, but you can be sure that I'll keep you updated with any developments. The fact the the site has an English language option is very promising. I'm not sure about the rest of the shorts for the rest of the film, but I'm very excited to see what's in store. [Via Crunchyroll] Did you know?
